I'm fortunate to have so many species of swallowtails here.

Saw a doe and fawn prancing through the yard this morning...then I noted some hosta scapes had been debudded like overnight So far no daylily damage🤫

We had a day of thunderstorms and heavy rains. Poor thing! I hate hearing when people are using poisons on the pollinators, even though (very rarely) I have been stung ... I hit a nest of ground bees a few years ago, weed-whacking and had to choose a new location pretty quickly. But hey - without them, there is no 'us'.

Didn't have the camera ready for a hummingbird this morning

A hummingbird was hanging out closely over my shoulder waiting to eat. When i turned to shoot a photo it was gone in a flash. Mine are quite camera shy.

No bunnies in the garden this summer. I don't mind, had one last year with a taste for lilies.

I use to keep rabbits when I lived in Massachusetts. I enjoyed it and usually purchased mine at the agricultural fairs or received them from people as "gifts". Since they couldn't care for them anymore or had litters. They were very inexpensive. Anyway, I went in the pet store here in Florida with my daughter to possibly get her a pet rabbit. They wanted $200 for a basic rabbit, not a special breed or anything.
I was shocked. That was just for 1 rabbit, no cage or anything.

Just wanted to prove not all of my butterflies are swallowtails.

I was wondering where my bunnies had gone this year. But our fertilizer restrictions went into effect in June and I then began feeding my plants with alfalfa pellets. All of a sudden the bunnies are back . . . they can smell alfalfa from blocks away!

Thankfully they like my Spanish needles (native pollinator plant) better than the daylilies so I leave a lot of them in the garden over the summer.

I have these guys (cottontails) who are not at all shy, and also marsh rabbits which are smaller, darker brown and very cute but a bit more timid.
