Irises Come in All the Colors of the Rainbow

By Paul2032
April 13, 2013

When you see the exciting irises that are being introduced today, it is hard to believe that their ancestors were shades of white, blue or violet. Hiding in the genes and chromosomes of those ancestral irises was the possibility of a vast spectrum of colors and patterns. These diverse beauties are now being produced by talented iris breeders who are giving us astonishing blooms in all of the colors of the rainbow.

We certainly don't want anyone throwing a tantrum so I looked and Mid-America has it listed for $10, It is a Keith Keppel iris but he is cutting back and only keeps things for 2-3 years.

Thank you, Paul! I'll go peek. I've never had a good spot for Iris till this season, when I'm going to have a new good size bed and that iris (along with oh just maybe a couple more Whistling ) will fit right in.....and DH just loves iris! Smiling

I also found that one at another nursery in Oregon, and they don't have a minimum order. Don't know anything else about them, but I may give them a try. Anyone know anything about this company?

Really love the simple pink coloring of "Star Appeal". All are beautiful and I bet your garden smells absolutely wonderful when these all get going!
