I was just saying to somebody the other day that it's weird that you hardly find sempervivums in the BBStores...lots of the tender but hardly the hardy. I don't see that much delosperma either...(hardy or otherwise except maybe a flat in the groundcover section).

It's always great to make new finds, but watch the names there. I've seen lots of examples of misnamed plants. Sometime they come in with wrong names and the staff doesn't know the difference. Sometimes people move name tags. I like to compare what they have among several different stores in the area. Sometimes that helps clarify misnamed plants, Saw some misnamed sedum and sempervivum here locally last year.

I had that happen to me, with a mislabeled semp about 3 years ago. I think I got if from Fred Myers. But I did get a most wonder pot of S. 'Pacific Devil's Food' from Home Depot a few years ago. And it was indoors with the tenders.
I couldn't get it home fast enough to double check it's identity. And here is what it grew into.

I was at Lowes today, helping my daughter shop for paint and other items for refurbishing the condo.
They had a bunch of beautiful healthy semps of several different kinds. When I read the tags, all said that they were Sempervivum globiferum.
All of them. Needless to say I came home with no semps.

Very cool Clint! Love your finds. My Lowes here only so far as carried the tender succulents and nothing else. They have sedums as well and other plants but never semps. Hopefully they will get some soon.

I'm going to Lowe's today because tomorrow is clean the yard and work on beds day.I bought my 'jade rose' & 'Black' at lowes but the last times i've been back that was all they had except 'black' sold a lot faster or they didn't have nearly as many of the 'black'? Wal-mart has strawberry pots & the flat i bought.They label generic mix but the pots had the same type in each pot.I would & did buy each strawberry pot and the other pot to get all types.

It makes since if Wal-mart has them Lowes does!!!



The strawberry pot i wanted had a empty hole on the side So i talked to an employee and he said pick one that you would like to have in that hole out of the other pots.I looked at them picked the one that looked the most different and he pulled it out & stuck it in my empty hole.this is it.

How far apart do yall like to plant your different varieties? I understand what umum who started this thread i think that's who told me,about keeping them separate or labeling them in order to not get them mixed up.I am labeling them but how close together with them labeled? I know they spread but that will take years & i am doing a pretty good job of keep a picture of each & where it is as well. So how close?

Lynn,where did you get the labels you use,they remind me of what the cemetery use's until the head stone comes in. sorry that sounds morbid which i'm not but that's what they remind me of little mini ones.

I am not going to tell my semps you said that Jelinda. I got them through a mamajack's co-op a few years ago.

You need to have an idea of how big the rosettes are at maturity, and it won't take years for them to get out of hand. It can happen in the first year if you plant them to close together, especially if they are growing well and are happy.
