I don't have a lot of newer irises like many people on here, but I do love what I have and have had for many many years now. My space is limited and most of the irises from NW growers such as Oregon etc. won't do well for me here in my hot climate. If we get a colder winter I have better bloom. So for many years I just simply saved my money and quit buying new irises, I was throwing my money away. But I do have some from our Texas hybridizer, Tom Burseen. His do well for me. Yesterday I went to his garden (first time in about 15 years). I went there because I knew the convention was in Dallas this year and that he would have a bunch of guest irises. But I ended up not looking at the guests hardly at all. because he had so many beauties of his own that I could choose from. These are the ones that I ordered from him and that I took the time to take pictures of them. It was hot and windy, my mind was blown trying to take it all in I simply didn't take many pictures. Also I will post my favorites from this years bloom.
Dot in Texas
Dewuc Whatic (Do you see what I see) got this one, well I ordered it.
Judges Special, had to have it, it took my breath away.
Tobacco Chew loved the big fat beard
Trumped, he had a row of it in bloom. It got your attention from way across the garden.
I actually ordered five from him, Cranfill's Gap was not blooming. He had very little of it, he said it sells out every year. I found a picture of it online, but the website wouldn't let me copy it.
Blooming this year in my own garden:
Dorothy Parker my namesake iris. I found it in his seedling patch in 1993. Told him that if he ever introduced it to name it after me, then I forgot about it. A couple of years later he asked me to sign a form, I said what for. He said that if I wanted this iris named after me, I had to sign a release form. I signed it.
Dawning, one of the few from Ghio that does well for me. It will always have a place in my garden.
Kid's Clothes one of my favorites from Tom Burseen.
I finally was able to copy the picture of Cranfil's Gap, this is Toms photo from last year. I did buy it from him, he had a small clump.
