Recently, I started the long, arduous task of adding a plant list (I really, really like this feature - it's entirely my fault that it is proving to be arduous but such is life for us who are chronically disorganized!!) and was wondering if there is a way to attach a sub-category to a main category. For example, can I have categories for Bearded Iris, Louisiana Iris,etc. under the category of Iris in my plant list? I tried looking about in the List Control Panel and don't see a way of doing this but I am wondering if I am just missing it?

I did try to search if this question has been previously addressed but I could not find an old post so, please forgive me if this has indeed been asked and answered in the past. Thank you to all!

LOL, you sound like me! I have a folder on my laptop labeled (Lin's Photo's) and then folders within folders; a folder for each plant and inside that folder another folder for each year of pictures of that plant.

I love your idea of sub-categories but I don't think the feature is available right now ... maybe some day when our wizard Dave has some free time but with six children, a working farm to run, this website, master gardener chores etc. etc. .....

I am glad you started this thread. I am having a major brain-fart! I need to print a list of a catagorie, I did it before and I had no pictures in the list. Now it will not let me print a list without the thumbnails and I do not want to use up my ink printing all these pictures!

Does your printer give you the option of NOT printing pictures? I know some of them do. But it would be nice not to have to rely on the vagaries of the printer software.

No, the printer had nothing to do with it. I printed out several list last month and I never touched the printer. This time I have racked my brains and I cannot figure out how I did it.

Copy-paste into some document format, then delete the whole column where all the pictures are?

Or maybe here, pics are scattered through the text.

That's because Dave recently added the photo thumbnails to the lists when you are in your manage mode, last month they didn't have them.

I wonder if it could be set up to choose to print just the text part?

I have tried everything, it will not print just text no matter what mode you are in. I have a list that is 103 entries so it would eat up my ink if I printed it. So much for that, I wasted a lot of time categorizing.

Did you click on the print friendly page?

Are you wanting the images removed? Is that the issue?

yes! I wanted to print a list of categories. It's working!!! So did you fix it because the last time I changed my category to public, so I could use public view, that is where the printer friendly page was. Thanks!!!!

I have a question; Is there any way to print your categories list with out the pictures and going to each page to print? I don't have a smart phone so when out shopping it is great to carry a list of plants I own. Say going on a sempervivum hunt and I need to know what I have. I can't remember.

Just go to where it said 'Public View' but make sure it is visible to public. Then just hit print for each page. It works good for categories but if you have a lot of plants you just print one page at a time.
I always feel stupid when I buy a wonderful plant and then find out I already have it. LOL.
