My thoughts go out to those in OK .. there's a video out (here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...) of a MASSIVE tornado that ripped through Oklahoma. I've been in a tornado before & it wasn't fun.

Weather Channel sent DR. Greg Forbes, Mike Beddes, Al Roker, and hunky Jim Cantore all down to Oklahoma. Kinda makes me want to drive down to meet them! Weather must really be bad if they sent ALL the big guns down there!

I don't have TV either, but I always assumed that the guys who stood in front of the maps and gestured suggestively were actors. Are they really trained meteorologists? (One of the meteorologists on NPR regularly stumbles over the pronunciation of his profession so he must be real!)

Can't speak for the majority, but I can confirm at least one local television meteorologist is credentialed (audited an intro survey college class he was teaching on the subject) There are many, MANY others I look at and think, nah, ain't no way, they HAVE to be just talking heads. Hilarious!

The network news guy I watch at 11 PM is a real meteorologist. Some of the other local stations, not so much.

Poof! Poof. I sprayed my roses with the systemic and now I have to go out and spray my tomato plants. Not with the same thing ha-ha but it seems to be spray day. I decided to start my tomato seedlings with a Daconil Fungicide today while they are small and healthy. Trying to prevent any tomato deseases from getting a start. I think we all know tomato plants are host to a wide variety of fungal deaseses they can get. Easier to prevent than to try and cure. But I am already tired from doing the roses. But then the roses are a big job, the still small tomato plants will go quickly.

These guys are the ultimate science geeks. Credentialed, and they not only know their stuff, they get so enthused talking about it, that it is fun to watch them. i don't think weather channel hires anyone who is not a real science person. So many schools offer meteorology degrees that they have their pick of pretty people to put on air.
Here's Jim, just a few seconds ago, on air:

Whistling Hilarious!

Edit: I had my tv on mute when I took this photo, and wasn't paying attention. I had no idea what was happening--thought they were reporting Sunday's events.

oh man.......I did not mean to be flippant about the weather guys being in Oklahoma. They were all there because they were right about the forecast for today. The scenes from Moore are just sickening. Parts of our town (Andover) looked like that in 1991. My heart just breaks for those people in Oklahoma. Even the experienced weather guys are having a hard time reporting this one. Group hug

My heart goes out to the people in OKC. We've had 2 towns here in CO wiped off the map by storms, so we have seen it first hand. Doesn't lessen the heart ache of the loss of family & friends. May they rest in eternal peace.

Yesterday's storms here in CO brought out some pretty rainbows. Well, technically I guess it's all 1 rainbow, but I got both legs of it.

The Ajax Express chairlift will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Open runs will include Silver Bell, Pussyfoot, Silver Dip, Blondie's, Dipsy Doodle, Dipsy Headwall, Summit, Buckhorn, Pumphouse, Tourtelotte Park and North American.

The Sundeck restaurant and Ajax Tavern will be open.

Last April, I transplanted a mature rose that I got from craigslist and the wonderful people on this forum helped me take care of it as it went through transplant shock. All the leaves fell off within days but it recovered ok after a few weeks.

Here's the original post: The thread "Need help with a new rose!" in Roses forum

This spring, it really started looking gorgeous! Here it is in bloom. I should have taken pictures last week when all the blooms were looking beautiful, but it's still looking pretty good! Thank you again for helping a rose newbie!
