These were my moms project actually but here's what she did: She laid the 15 coated seeds on a wet paper towel for 24 hours before planting them in loose seed starting soil. She didn't use a heat mat. The seeds came up VERY fast, within a couple days.

The $1.00 geranium has turned out to be the red one with an orange center. I think because of the chilly weather the flowers aren't opening as fully as they do in warm weather.

Wishing my Geranium garden friends a Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays. Of course for us in the northern hemisphere tomorrow is the first day of winter, but we can remember the warmth of summer fondly.

One of my favorite geraniums is Brookside, I have 5 scattered throughut the garden.

The best one I think is still Rozanne though.

This one taken at SF Botanical Garden

My best self seeder is Bill Wallis, it's all over the garden in spring, easy to pull when done.

My other great self seeder is

This is my biggest geranium, usually about 3 feet tall when it blooms. It's a biennial so takes awhile to get to that blooming stage, and it's monocarpic but leaves behind lots of seedlings.

I had the pink one in my other garden, this shot was taken at Annie's Annuals.

Remember the $1.00 mystery geranium? It's blooming and is red with an orange center. I love the beautiful ruby ones I've seen and I wish this geranium had turned out to be ruby.
I've tried to post a picture but it won't upload even though I do know how to upload.

Slow progress on the geranium babies. They're not getting much light thanks to the stinking winter overcast.

Lol, they were simply so easy!! If you want to give it a shot just buy some seed off eBay, lay the seed on a wet paper towel for 24 hours then plant indoors in soft seed starting soil such as Jiffy. Keep the seeds moist and warm. They'll come up within days then grow slower than a snail cab crawl. Smiling

Anyone know what's wrong? Maybe it is too close to the grow lights.

I have had geraniums look like that when I let them dry out too much. I usually saturate them with water in the sink and let the excess water run through. My geraniums usually have small roots so it is easy to miss them with a half fast watering. Because of the discoloration, I would add some liquid fertilizer too. Usually I use 1/2 or 1/4 strength to avoid burns.
You have a lot of things on the surface of the pot also. Maybe that is affecting water distribution.
Other problems could be fungal but I don't think it looks like that yet. I would snap off the worst two leaves at the stem.

Got it, thanks. I think it is under-watered. I went away for 10 days and came back only to water it 4 days later, I think that definitely stressed it out.
