No, there's some awfully large lizards down here. Do you know why it's nickname is "Jesus Lizard"?

Good guess, Ted. These things run across water, and it's said that Jesus could walk on water.

An old high school friend who lives on a small island along the gulf in the everglades recently posted a picture of one that hangs around in her yard and it is a good 3' to 4' long. Blinking

Just about everything one sees down here, plants and reptiles, is non-native. Many of these have the "invasive" label on them.

I've never seen one of these Jesus Lizards longer than 2'. Boy, 3-4' is a whopper, Alice.

My desert roses have their raincoats all buttoned up for the storm. I hope we do get some good rain, but holy cow! The wind is pretty fierce already and the line of storms is still 40 miles offshore.

I picked all my roses since they were whipping and thrashing around in the wind. Better to enjoy them in the house than let them beat themselves up outside.

Also went ahead and picked a few more tomatoes while I was out there. My hubs is away so I'm going to be eating tomatoes on everything this week! I knocked one greenish one off while I was picking, and a couple more had fallen off because of the high winds. Lemon Boy, Juliet, and Dwarf Johnson's Cherry (two iterations).

It is an unusually huge storm. We had hours and hours of steady hard rain, a bit of thunder but no lightening that we could see and the temperature was about 40 last night as the rain finally ended - almost 24 hours of rain. Roads flooded, schools closed, etc.
I am glad you picked those tomatoes Elaine, it sounds like Florida got hit pretty hard,

We're expecting more rain tomorrow, but today was mainly dry and very warm ahead of the next weather front. Chilly on Sunday, warm again on Monday . . . it's a roller coaster.

I have a few new things responding to the little bit of sun we got this week:
First nasturtium bloom of the season - they really need more sun!

A fun little Zinnia, just starting to put out some blooms

My roses on the kitchen counter that I rescued from the storm on Tuesday.

And I lost my mind - again! - and bought another desert rose at Lowe's today, a really nice flower on an excellent plant with a big, fat caudex. It's out there with it's sisters, sporting a new raincoat . . . poor thing!

Elaine, nice nasturtium. Love it. Been hanging between the high 30's at night to the mid 60's during the day here. A little on the chilly side for us. But my plants that don't like cold are under lights and the rest seem to be doing fine.

I am watching my Amaryllis opening! Smiling A lady sold different cultivars at a local Farmers Market 3 weeks ago! I couldn't resist a red one!

I agree I agree that is a beautiful adenium Elaine! I might have to stop by and go to my Lowe's!

Ursula, that is a lovely amaryllis!

Ted, I'd think you could grow nasturtiums really well where you are. These last for me well into May with tons of blooms, but the humidity zaps them once the hot weather really settles in. But I used to grow them through the summer in Utah, weeks of 100's and they did great with water a couple of times a week.

Usually my 'Alaska' variegated nasturtiums are the first to bloom, but they've only got tons of beautiful foliage at the moment. C'mon sun!!
