Nice! And I love these tomato names.

It sounds like a couple I am trying this year might be large but I don't expect it.

This is my first year to try Bunny Hop Seeds. I like that they allow you to search for specific types, resistance to viruses or by climate.

I started tomato seeds today and from them I am growing Summer Best, LA Pink, LA Red, Sweet Florida Orange, LA Gulf State, Kewalo and Healani. From Everwilde Farms - Garden Peach Heirloom, Yellow Brandywine Heirloom. Also growing Sleeping Lady, Hillbilly, Jamestown, Bella Rosa and Creole. I am planting no more than two of each.

I think I've lost my mind but today was beautiful, in the 70s, sunny, breezy. Spring fever set in. Green Grin!

My biggest tomatoes in size last season were both my Chefs Choice Pink and my Buffalo Steak ones.

Big Yummy was also a nice size tomato but not as big as those others.

For this coming season I ordered seeds of Beefmaster. Used to grow them but haven't had them for years now. Big nice lovely and great tasting tomatoes.

Those are some nice sized maters, for sure. I've grown German Green and Orange Accordion, but I don't think they got above a pound. What did you think of Orange Accordion? Pretty but wasn't impressed with the flavor, imo. Bland. German Green was tasty.

Ditto. Pretty but kinda dry and not great flavor. In top of that BER was a HORRIBLE issue and was reported by other growers on Baker Creek where I bought them.

I myself just love the taste of black tomatoes. But for a great all around slicer that is easy to find plants of (a hybrid) at the nursery try Better Boy.

Rita ~ I was going through my seed stash. I found an old pack of Better Boy. I grew that years ago, and it was yummy. I won't start mine until next month, but I went through what I had, of all my veggies, so I could place an order for veggies. I already placed the order, but discovered I already had Sungold tomatoes. I don't even sow the whole packet, and I keep them "forever"! Rolling on the floor laughing
I found that most old tomato seeds germinate with no problems.

Does anyone need any Sungold tomatoes? These are newer seeds. '21 and '22.

Isn't Sungold a hybrid golden cherry?

Yes, Sungold is exactly that. And so yummy. Sweet tasting with lots of flavor.

I do love Better Boy. A staple in my garden. And tomato seeds do last for a very long time. I have started ten year old seeds without any problems.

Tuning in very late here, but it's been very busy with two sharp cold snaps down here in Florida. I have to schlep 100 orchids into the house, and cover a lot of my stuff for any temperatures going below 45 or so. My tomatoes are in a hoop house, against the south-facing wall of our big shop building, thankfully. Just have to deploy the cover on cold nights for them.

I have three kinds bearing right now, Stupice which is an old early-bearing one, Juliet, a large grape variety and Bella Rosa, a slicer with very high disease resistance. I also started some seeds of Thorburn's Terracotta, and have some plants in pots of those with fruit coming.

@boilinfrog if you want to grow tomatoes in Florida, you're trying to do it at the wrong time of year. Summer is your time "off" and fall, winter and spring you can have all the tomatoes your heart desires. Most varieties of tomato don't set fruit once the night temperatures get up into the 70's here (when you start to have the a/c on all night). A very few, mostly cherries, will set fruit in higher temperatures, but you also have way more bugs and disease problems to plague you here in the summer.

In winter, you must be on the alert for cold nights, and cover your tomato plants to keep them bearing, but it's such a small number of nights, it's well worth the few minutes it takes.

I had the infamous 'Everglades' tomatoes going one summer, and they made big, rampant messy plants with tiny (delicious) fruit but once the birds, squirrels and other rodents discovered them, I never got any more fruit.

Try starting some plants in August or September for a crop beginning in October. Mine started bearing in November, and I'll have fresh tomatoes right through May and some into June. Then they start to decline and just disappear.

Sorry, this is the only tomato pic I have at the moment. Will take some more this afternoon, when I get home.

Here's a 2 pound 11 ounce Mortgage Lifter I grew a couple of years ago. I cut it early because there were several other similar sized ones on the plant and I was afraid of breakage.

Dang Steve. Impressive! I grew Mortgage Lifter once before, I'll add it back to the list for 2024 if the big ones I am trying this year are a bust. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, Sandy. It was fully ripe in a few days and quite delicious. Several others of similar size on the same plant. They were in 7 gallon containers.

Free shipping from the US to France with a 15$ minimum order? I'm only ordering these 35$ worth of seeds this year. And next year, by golly, I'm not ordering any.
I find myself most amusing.
