Looks like one of my Orchids is producing a stem with buds. However, there is clear sticky fluid coming from nodes on the stem. It crystalizes after a while. Should I remove the plant from my other orchids?

If you don't see any Mealies or other bugs, I wouldn't be concerned.

A couple of my orchids do that sometimes. It's not anything to worry about, not the result of disease or insects in any case.

You can just rinse it off under a gentle stream of warm water if it's bothersome. My orchids are all outside and get watered with the hose sprayer or an automatic mist system, so it gets rinsed off them.

Thanks Elaine!

BigBill said - "it looks like a Phalaenopsis spike maybe but the liquid that crystallizes is sugar. As we know, sugar is a by product of photosynthesis. It is a sign of a healthy orchid typically.
Sometimes a black sooty mold attacks or feeds upon the sugar, never the plant. No cause for concern."

I taste it. If it is sweet, it is called "happy sap."
