So it looks like a dog or something came into my front yard and stepped on one of my lilies that was just sprouting and crushed it. Will it come back next year or should I just get another one in fall?Thumb of 2013-05-14/NW15/1a9f53

Leave it alone for a few days. If it's not broken completely, it may heal enough to live cripled this season. If it does, cut the bud head off as soon as it appears so the handicapped plant can put whatever energy it can into growing next years bulb. But even if it is totally broken off, the lily bulb will survive and grow up next year. It will be a smaller plant, of course.

It was stepped on on Saturday, and it looked like it was fine until I went out this morning and saw it lying there shriveling up in the sun. So it will come back smaller next year?
