What a gorgeous 'wisteria tree' you've created Sharon! Thank you for sharing how you trained it too. That talent must run in the family as your brother's ivy arch is beautiful too. Hurray!

I have loved Wisteria since a chiild many years ago in South Carolina
near the Atlantic Coast..

I have seen it take over an entire woods area due to being invasive
I enjoyed seeing your photo of your wisteria and how you trained it
There is nothing like the color of wisteria ..in its beauty
every time I think of the color I wish I had a linen long shirt
to wear in that color!

Thanks,
Sheri/sheridragonfly

I recently saw the twisted trunk vines of a wisteria growing up through a lattice roof. It was very dramatic! Good solution on the ivy. I like how you honor your friend.

Chris, my brother and I grew up learning that we shouldn't fight nature; we should just make do with what we have. So I think my wisteria tree and his ivy arch would be called 'making do'.

Isn't that the truth, Sheri; wisteria sure has a southern charm all its own. And that color - wow - sometimes mine has a blue tint and sometimes it's more purple, but you're right, I'd love to be wearing it.

Anna, 'dramatic' is a great word for wisteria and for a lot of other vining plants.

Thanks, Ladies, so good to hear from each of you.

I had no clue that you had to pull the runners of your wisteria tree up to the trunk like that. I guess I thought they just naturally grew like that. Your brother's ivy arbor is so lush looking and is stunning. You've both shown a great way to work with nature while keeping it under control with a watchful eye. Thanks Thumbs up

I've had people ask where they could get a wisteria 'tree' and were disappointed to learn that it's only a vine and not a tree. I've seen others who leave only one vine to grow against a support and it will thicken and branch out as well, but the trunk is not as strong as when it's wrapped.

Thanks Vickie.

Very creative and beautiful. The wisteria makes me smile, resembling a person with shaggy hair, a long nose and glasses.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

She was decked out in her vinest vinery and the plumes in her hat were of the vinest lavender pearls. And draped from her neck were vine jewels of amethyst and garnet and jasper, and from a distance rose the scent of vine wine.

The end.
I'm all out of vine words. Sad

And she looked divine nodding

I absolutely loved this Sharon! As someone with a name starting with "V", I'm used to being called "Wickie" in the German vernacular.
