Anybody else have Rose of Sharon? Is it blooming earlier than usual? Mine started opening July 29th -30th, they don't usually bloom until Aug. 10 -15th. Of course my nights have been dropping down to the 50's lately so they may have something to do with it. This morning it was 52, Northern Maine saw temps in the 40's and some place in the MTs dipped into the 30's last night!

I'm pulling them out like weeds and I'm always careful to cut them back after they bloom and scoop up every seed pod.

Four o'clocks, never dug the tuber just happen to be in the same pot as some cannas and salvia I brought in the basement. Mine were much larger than last year. I think you can dig them and wrap them in paper and store in a box like dahlias, just make sure they don't dry out and aren't soaking wet either. I had red ones one year that came back all over from seed the following spring. I'm going to toss some in in the fall this year and see what happens.

My evolvulus does way better in some shade. As for the heat, it's not really that, they are related to morning glories and start to bloom better when the days become shorter they will be gangbusters next month.

Thanks for that info on the Evolvous. Just this week with the cooler weather at night my plant doubled in size. It's loaded with new buds and just waiting for it to bloom. Have to try taking some cuttings for wintering over. Love the blue flowers.
