I'm watching pips arise all over the garden, spring excitement is building! Let's talks Daffs!..and see pictures, talk about what we planted last fall, and everything else we LOVE about Narcissus!

Maybe we could get a co-op going on here for fall for daffs, Neal. Ednie, or I found a new company that looks promising, ADR.

Good idea Polly! I've looked into fall bulb co ops before, but even with the quantity discounts I found, the secondary shipping ate up the savings. However if the co op concentrated on more expensive varieties it may be more worthwhile.

These very late yellow & white daffs were from Color Blends in Fall of 08. They were called either InFlight or Flight time. I quite liked their shape and airyness.

I could too want some very special ones. I have so many common ones already, and love them all, but would like to add some of the very choice ones. Here is an album of some of the narcissus already in our garden, prior to this years additions as well as the ones that I haven't managed on photographing yet. Patti

I would soooo love to obtain some of those special Grant Mitsch varieties! Having all this acreage, I've concentrated on quantities and mass plantings the last few years, but now I'm looking toward choice varieties to be seen up close.

I still need masses, but I'm also adding some really nice ones for up close viewing. I'm trying for more fragrants and some later varieties too.

I would agree with that Mary. I'm getting lilies from that new vendor, and if they are nice I will get masses of daffs and hyacinths from them too, but I would still like some new special ones.

This will be my first real year growing Narcissus/ Daffs. I bought a bunch from Brent and Becky's on sale last fall. It's been such an odd winter, I hope they make it!

Last year we had a mini Narcissus bloom, it came in a bag of mixed spring bulbs I bought (mostly crocus). My husband just loved it, and I was surprised how long it bloomed.

I have a photo somewhere....???

Lakesidecallas, you are so hooked. They will bloom and then you will want more and more. Love the little guys too. Here are some of the our smaller, but not necessarily officially Miniatures Narcissus. Some are such late bloomers too. Love that. Good luck. Patti

Isn't that a breath of fresh air after all this cold! I found a lot of sprouts after the snow thawed a few days ago, somehow they do their thing even under the snow. Although the show here is definitely later this year than last- I had quite a few blooms at this time last year.

Gemini, I'm surprised that you would have daffs blooming this early. Is that normal?

Mine got buried again yesterday.

Patti,
Oh no, a new obsession! At least I don't have to dig these up or bring them inside during the winter. Nice to have some plants that are care-free.

Yes, they are an easy obsession. Reliable, cheerful and only look a bad for a few weeks after blooming. Then there is a bit of time tiding up, but that cutting back comes at a good time for me. Before the real weeding needs to be done. Plus most of their names are fun and pronounceable. Have fun collecting them. Patti

Great pics everyone. I am so looking forward to spring. So I will watch spring bloom all the way north.

I wonder if Steve, from DG is on here. I always loved to see his bulb photos, along with Neals, and Pattis.
