Thanks Tracey and Jasmin was out all day, had to get them settled before the rain comes. After removing all the straw and some block this is what I found ? Let me go back to last spring I had a tray of seeds that I had planted when I checked the tray there was nothing in the tray I figured the chipmunks must've got them, they did but they didn't eat them all them they hid some underneath the block,

Amazing, Oscar Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Magical Hurray!

The first picture, first row, center: That peony looks as if has lots of Rockii in its lineage; smaller elegantly cut leaves, early spring growth, relatively robust Smiling Do you have any Rockii in your garden? Good luck to you and all your seedlings Crossing Fingers!

Oscar, on second thought that big seedling may also be close to Feng Dan Bai (Phoenix White) or wild Paeonia ostii Smiling Crossing Fingers!

Very interesting, Oscar! Thanks for sharing with us. Those chipmunks plant seeds in my flower pots from the bird feeders. It drives me nuts.

Btw, does anyone know if peony seeds are always fertile?

I actually grow a peony for the infertile seeds Rolling on the floor laughing
Peony mascula makes both but the 'duds' are actually gorgeous (see red ones below)

The usually small infertile red or black seeds are just empty which is why I always squeeze gently all the seeds I sow Rolling on the floor laughing

P. mascula is a short plant so situated at the front of a bed it makes quite a statement in the Fall when the pods open, and the seeds are so 'glued in' that they will stay there for weeks Thumbs up
