Lovely combination of red, white and blue. Lots of buds here, but like Moby I got 6" of rain the last week of May and that worries me a little.

I had nearly 50 lilies blooming by this time last year. The year before but 12. The year before that 19. So far this year 6.

Here in the Upper Midwest, I'd say we're running about three weeks later than average. But I'm OK with that, as long as we don't get hail and high wind!

I just learned a new word, at least new to me for the plant world: pubescence.
Is that what this is on my noid asiatics?

I panicked when I saw it as I was readying things to take for sale at the flea market tomorrow, set them aside, and posted a desperate message on the pests and diseases forum.
I got one person's attention and she said she thinks it may just be normal for this lily.
I really need some advice!
These were to be my best seller this time of the year.

Since you are planning on selling them you should look all of them over closely to see if there are other buds with holes in them. Good luck on your sale!

But yes, all that hairiness is normal. Some lilies have it, some don't. Many, like me, like it. Big Grin

Botanically speaking, there are more than a dozen different terms describing plant hairs, each with its own meaning.
Pubescence is much tinier, very very short hair surface.
Those on lilies are most accurately described as pilose.

That said, "real" people just say fuzzy, hairy or pubescent. I'm good with that.

I almost assumed that was a username, not a company name.
But I decided to google it first - and it IS a company name!
Are you generally satisfied with their products and service?

buggycrazy is also on this forum with the same username. Many of us have her lilies growing in our gardens and are sad that the business is now closed. Many of her lilies were her own hybrids but I see that 'Good Night' is registered and bred by Mak-Leek so you may still be able to find it.
