so...5 weeks ago today I drove 1 hr each way to get myself 2 goose goslings. These are Sebastopol goose goslings. I've drooled over them for over a year. Took me forever and a lot of googling to find someone within 100 kms that had them.

It has been so much fun watching them grow up. Boy, do they grow fast!!

When I brought them home, 1 week old. They lived in a box in the closet under a heat lamp.

Dearest Hubby built me a pen for them that can be moved around the yard.

Almost 4 weeks old and getting a hug from Dad.

5 weeks old, feathers starting to come in. That gangly, awkward, teenage stage. Their wings are too heavy and droop and they're forever having to hike them back up.

Mom, Mom, is there water in my nose!!
(Thanks Debbie, I about wet myself when you posted that caption!!)

They spend all day outside in their pen and come in the house at night. I had to buy a baby play pen for them and they can look over the sides if they stand on their tippy-toes. I love them dearly.

Are they boys or girls or one of each or do you even know? Smiling That is a VERY nice pen your DH made! Wish I'd had something like that back when we had chickens.

They've grown a lot!!

A more recent hug shot, and me with them so you can see how they've grown!! Hubby has fenced in the entire back yard for the geese to roam in. The pen is so they can "mow" the side yard safely.

Marilyn, they are domestic geese...it is illegal here to keep wild ones as pets.

Rick...we don't have a big slug problem up here...I rarely ever see them, too cold most of the time.

They can stay outside all year. We'll need to provide shelter....our winters can be as cold as -30 F, and we lock them in a barn (the garage ) at night for their own safety.
