I don't know if this is the correct forum for my question. I ended up changing the password for this site. I can log in just fine on my PC, but on my phone and iPad, it tells me the password is incorrect. "We have the email on file but your password doesn't match". I KNOW I typed it in correctly (tho it would be helpful if you had the little "eye" there that we could click and it would show the password.) If a person tries to make it something that would be difficult to hack, it might be difficult to type in correctly so it would be nice to be able to see it.

Anyway, if someone could help me with this problem, I'd appreciate it.

There's no doubt that Apple changed something recently and, as is typical for them and their proprietary platforms, they do not publish what kinds of changes they make. I am investigating why passwords aren't working on some apple devices. I suspect that if you don't use special characters in your password it might work but that's just a theory. I need to test this with a current ios device which I don't currently own.

I have only Apple devices, all current on the latest software, so far no issues.

I have an iPad and my phone is Samsung. Same problem on both but not on my PC.

I haven't had any issues on iPad or iPhone. My password only has letters and numbers. No special characters.

The only "special" character is a sign that I'm not going to say what it is. I know that it's recommended to put a character in your passwords as it makes it harder to hack. I have used characters for a long time in my passwords and never had a problem on any of my devices.

Would be interesting to know what would happen if you tested it by removing the sign and see if you can login after that. If so, that'll confirm my theory that special characters are causing this, and then I'll be able to focus my efforts on finding the solution to that.

Ok, I changed the PW to just upper and lower case letters and it worked. I have used numbers and symbols before with no problem. So for now I'm good. Thank you.

I'm a little confused. At first you said it didn't work and then you said it did work.

If I'm understanding correctly, removing the special character fixed the problem. If so, that is a valuable clue as to what is causing this problem.

I think Anna just removed the character from the original PW, which of course wouldn't work, before creating a new one.

Without special characters it sounds like. Maybe there was something about the original one (characters or not) that it didn't like? Not sure what or why though.

My PC liked the PW with the character/number. My iPad and Samsung phone did not. I tried just taking the character/number out of the original, but not changing it. Still did not work, so I just did a NEW PW with just upper and lower case letters and it did work. Did this come off as less confusing? Sorry. So, anyway, new PW works with just letters.

Apple definitely made a change recently breaking form submissions when special characters are involved. Knowing that this is the case, I can maybe now reverse engineer what they are doing and find a workaround.
