Enjoyed the absolute sweetest tomato I have ever tasted in my life from one of my cherry tomato pots. It's more like candy. Sunsugar is the name! Has anyone experienced them?

Yes, they are very good and what I buy when I can't find "Sungold", my favorite cherry tomato. Sweet 100s (red) are good, too.

Interesting you mentioned Sweet 100s. I have them growing, also. Taste test tomorrow.

Hi Frank @FolsomFrank

'SunSugar' is our favorite yellow cherry tomato for a sweet cherry. For a softer, juicier yellow one we like 'Sungold'

'SunSugar' is in the database here on NGA. Link below.

Also, if you search the forums for "Sunsugar" a lot of posts will come up. I suppose it is mentioned in them.

How did you like the 'Sweet 100'? I grew some years ago. They were very good. They were on a tall trellis next to the walkway on the sunny side of our garage. By the end of the season they had grown up to the top of the trellis, over the walkway, and the tops were reclining on the garage roof! We didn't try to harvest those. 😂

Yes, I have been enjoying SunSugar for a long time. I usually have four or five different small tomatoes which we use for uncooked salsa throughout the summer. Recently I stopped growing SunSugar as I eat a lot of Ground Cherries instead, which taste even better!

I do grow the Sweet 100s. We just did a taste test comparing the two. SunSugar are so much sweeter.

I have never heard of Ground Cherries before. Are they indeterminate or determinate? Do they grow close to the ground?

Thanks.

Bith Sungold and Sunsugar are fantastic. Really I can never taste the difference between them.

Thank you for the comments.

The Black Cherry I planted this year was also quite unique.

How does your Black Cherry taste? I am curious because I want to grow that one in the greenhouse this coming winter. The Yellow Patio Choice overloaded me with fruit last winter. I want something different.

You will like the Black Cherry. They actually have hints of the black cherry in the taste.

Thanks. I tend to like the sweeter smoky taste in a tomato. Sounds good. Thumbs up
