I guess summer is coming even though it has been very cool for this time of year. My Bok Choi is bolting.

Maybe that means beans will soon have flowers.

On the failure front I have to put these NORLI peas. A short sugar snap type. I had them last fall and they had the same problems but I had another packet and blamed the problems on the late fall planting time. Well same thing this spring. Small pods but that is not so bad. Problem is pods don't swell, or do so with one pea or such as the rest don't develop. Makes the pods curl in funny ways and look bumpy. Looks are not as bad as the fact that the non developing peas mean you never get a decent crop. Never buying these again.

They did bloom early though. The first of my spring peas to bloom.

More on my Florida Weaving. Here is a small row of 4 tomato plants that I weave. Just put another row of weave on them yesterday.

My Crimson clover is about ready to start to bloom.

My Hairy Vetch is blooming with its pretty purple flowers. They are small though.

Crimson clover and hairy vetch are common green manure cover crops but mine is just growing because I think it is pretty and like the flowers.

I ended up pruning my indeterminate tomatoes...poor naked-looking things! Hilarious!

Planted bush bean seeds yesterday. Rolling my eyes. grumble...huff....mumble...rabbit food...literally! Rolling on the floor laughing

We had rain overnight and into this morning, so I expect I'll be weeding like mad over the next few days.

Are you eating those peas anyway, Rita? They look tasty to me. Big Grin

Yeah, Rita, i would just stir fry them! Your tomatoes sure are looking good.

So Chelle, do you just mean you pinched the suckers? Even if you dod and it's so hard to do, you should get bigger tomatoes! I have a hard time throwing away the pinched suckers, i always want to stick them in the ground for extras!

Yes, eating sugar snap peas. I just love the taste of fresh peas and just snack right in the garden. But this year I have such great production that I should even have enough to stir fry in a few days.

I have my usual Super Sugar snap and they are producing well. But the star of the garden as far as peas go are the Sugar Lace II. I have never had them before but they are going to be my number 1 sugar snap type from now on. Alien looking but superior bloomers and of course where there are flowers there come pods. Tons of flowers and pods. I just can't believe how much these produce. And they don't even need support. They just all hang on to each other!

Parks seed is one place that sells them and every wonderful thing they say about them is true!

Arlene, you mean those Norli peas I was complaining about for the stir fry?

Thanks, I am pleased with the tomatoes and they are growing like crazy.

Hurray for planting beans! Do you have a clover patch somewhere off away from your veggies? Rabitts love clover and you might lure them away. Anyway, here's hoping for a lot of success for your bean patch.

So you prune all the laterals off on your tomatoes? I Never do, too much work and I feel that I am loosing production. Not sure that it can make the tomatoes grow bigger or not. I guess mine grow big enough as is.

Oh you mean those in the picture, the Noirli peas. Haven't eatten any. Well, tasted fresh but flat pods so no tender peas inside. Very dissapointing on those peas. As I said, I will not be planting them again.

Yeah, I probably overdid it on the pruning. Hilarious! I removed some of the lower leaves as well. I did six of them that way, the rest are still intact. What's left of the pruned plants looks happy and healthy though, so we shall see if I ruined them, or not. Whistling

Everyone has thier own way of growing the tomatoes. Whatever works best for you as long as you get fruit that is what matters!

I'm sure they'll be fine.

Yes, Rita, the ones in the picture. The first picture. Look good enough for stir fry!

Ok, I will pick them for stir fry maybe tomorrow. Raining now, too much rain for going outside.

Rita, one salad I really enjoy is taking a mild onion (shallot if possible) and dice it. Add diagonal cut snow peas or sugar pod peas. Then, add slivers of fresh carrot, or bigger pieces ( might want to blanch first or microwave for a minute or two). Add a simple vinaigrette or Italian dressing. Let sit in fridge for a couple hours and enjoy! Also great to swap peas for fresh asparagus. It is so good with the peas, carrots and shallots (or onions)... Another one from the Victory Garden Cookbook

I will have to try that. Thank you for the suggestion. I should have peas to pick to bring inside within a day or two. I like them so much that I have a tendency to eat them all up outside in the garden.

They have several acres of clover and alfalfa to eat directly west of my veggie patch, Hilarious! but they prefer my tender beans.

Planted out several fun types of pumpkins, sunflowers, cantaloupe and watermelon today. Hopefully this wetter spring will continue to some extent on into summer...I'll need the rain for all those plants. There's no way I'd be able to water them all!

That salad sounds so good, Juli! Thumbs up

Hope they come up and grow quickly. Thumbs up Sounds like it might be time to put up a fence to keep those bunnies away.
