If I can't get to planting them right away, I pot them up in a larger pot. They won't dry out as fast.

Sylvia, I was just posting pictures from the plants that were on sale because I just got them. They were all 2.99 but two of them were 1.99 and I have several that are a foot tall and pot bound so I need to get them into bigger pots today. It is nice to get big healthy plants at a good price. Actually I feel like I stole them. LOL.
They will probably have another sale in the fall, maybe even bigger. I was reading my own feedback on WD and I added on 9-27-12 that I had gotten great plants from the 80% off sale! Whoa!!

If you had an order they should have shipped by now. They are good at communicating and will let you know when they ship or even when they are about to ship. They told me right away that they would ship mine the week of the 17th because they were booked solid till then. Then right after they shipped they emailed me again to say the plants were on the way. Thumbs up

Susan I sent them a email and left a message Friday I GOT a email this morning saying I should receive them Thursday or Friday.. So I asked them if they could ship in September because it was too hot. I got another reply saying it had already been shipped asking me to please water twice a week for a month and there after once a week. Little do they know I water everyday.. They also sent me a five dollar coupon which is good, it took my new order down to 27.82 for 10 or 11 plants. that's not bad. Smiling
I am quite sure they got a mad house there. lol
I just hope I have not bit off more than I can chew! 20 plants to keep alive until September? Confused LOL

The easiest thing to do is pot them up and put them in some shade so they will not dry out so fast. I had mine in the sun last year but I was having to water twice a day. Whoa!! Then we moved them under the trees and that worked out great, I was only watering once a week after that and I was using the sprinkler. Not many blooms but they lived and eventually got planted in the fall. Whistling

I never heard of those hostas. You might find someone on the Hosta Forum who has one. I did not order any Hostas from them this year just Heuchera and Coneflowers mainly. Last year I got a few off the bargain bench and they did fine. Except Rainforest Sunrise, they said it was sun tolerant but it was not for me and it fried. I would not mind having another one though, I would give it more shade in zone 8, I think 2 hours of morning sun would be fine but you can keep them in a pot and move them around till you find a spot they like. Thumbs up

Susan, planting things in pots and moving them around until finding a spot that they are happy in is a great idea!!

Natalie too much moving around for me is bad for me, I afraid to hold my head down that long, getting old aint for Wimps! Smiling
Susan not too many people have that plant. Alta Scheer created that plant about fifteen years ago and it sold for ninety dollars. Jim tried to sell it to me for 50.00. I see Tony Avent is claiming it now maybe its a different strain... I really want that plant but I dont do well with Cells, my patience is too short. lol Susan at 18.00 we should try one Drooling we can compare notes. Smiling

Sylvia, I was thinking about small pots. I'm not all that old yet Whistling Hilarious! but I don't want to move heavy stuff either! I think it's better than having to dig up a plant several times that isn't happy!

Sylvia, if you are talking about PlantDelights they have pretty big plants. I got my red neck poker lily from there. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
Get you a small hand truck and move your pots around that way, they have wheels and you can roll it where ever you want. I got a small one for $25.99 and it holds up to 150 lb's.

I was brousing on Santa Rosa a week ago and I clicked on 'NOW ON SALE', they still have a lot of plants that are marked down to 2.49. I got several plus 2 JEWEL OF THE DESERT, delopserma. I also used my come-back-coupon and the plants came yesterday. They are so healthy and nice. I might go back for more!

Nice plants! I still haven't put in my order since I still don't have any flower beds to put anything in. But, the number of plants in my shopping cart keeps shrinking and growing!

Thanks Bob! I guess I really am turning into a Santa Rosaholic, but this time of year I cannot resist the bargains and use it as a good excuse to try some new things. They emailed me when they restocked Jewel of Desert Garnet and I just had to order some, plus I got a Echinacea Butterflies Julia which I had been wanting. Yippee!
