Thank you ladies! Smiling
I love Rooguchi Clematis too!
Its so hardy and blooms so nice every year and I don't do anything to it.
I think I'm going to plant more of it. Thumbs up
Sweet Autumn Clematis is another winner for me.

I won't take another chance with Sweet Autumn Clematis. It's a thug! It completely overwhelmed all of the other plants within reach and almost smothered some of them.

They really are going wild, and all of this is happening before Japanese Beetle season. What luck!

Zuzu the JB's don't come until later BUT I do have Rose Chafers that come soon after the roses start blooming
but this year the numbers are so low I've only seen a few THANK GOD!
I did read once that either the JB or the RC do not do well with a lot of wet soil and we had heavy rains this spring
so it must of killed a lot of the RC grubs off. Its sooo wonderful to be able to see all my beloved roses not being
destroyed by those blasted beetles.
Something else...before I put down Milky Spore no matter where I'd dig I would dig up JB grubs but now I barely come
upon any, yet I still get them. They must be flying in from other areas. Grrrrr!!! I HATE THEM! Angry Angry Angry

Vicky,
What an impressive garden! Thank you for posting pictures of the whole bush. so many times, all I see in catalogs or other places is just the bloom. Those bushes are magnificent. Wish I lived near you and could come see them in person. I'll bet the whole yard is perfumed.
Lovey dubby Hurray!

Thank you! Some of them are very fragrant and do perfume the air.
My Alba's and rambler Amethyst are especially nice. Drooling
Amethyst has a VERY SWEET candy scent instead of a rose scent
and has trusses of blossoms covering it.
The pics don't do it justice.
Just love it.
Guess I spoke too soon Zuzu...a lot more Rose Chafers today. Grumbling

Charles de Mills is so pretty too with its flat quartered blossoms.

Ycck!I remember rose chafers in my mother's garden - what a pity to have them invade when your roses are looking so glorious! We are lucky that our climate is apparently too nasty for rose chafers or Japanese beetles - so far - or maybe they just find black spot unappetizing.

Rugosa Polareis just keeps popping out more blossoms!
Another cool feature of Polareis is its not fountain shaped
like most Rugosa's...as you can see its a huge round shrub with
fullness all the way to the ground.
Incredible HUGE, lovely Rugosa!
I got Polareis and Lillian Gibson from Suzy Verrier, North Creek Farm

Freckles is a favorite Buck rose of mine.
I use to have ~a lot~ of Buck roses but aside from big Apple Jack
I think its the only smaller one I still have.

I love my Polareis too, and I bought it because your photos of it were so beautiful. I love to see Freckles still going strong.

Can you identify this rambler for bearsearch?
