Looking at my garden full of spent clematis blossoms and wild vines, I am wondering what would happen is I pruned all of them back right now to about a foot tall. It seems logical that they would likely all grow and bloom next year on their regular schedule but am not sure...any ideas?

Some clematis do not need to be pruned… they can remain on trellis or whatever plant tree they hang on all winter to present next years garden with an abundance of blooms. Don't do the one foot tall pruning just so the garden look neat and tidy . You'll be robbing the garden of next seasons blooms. You can clean them up and organize them better . I never prune any of my clematis for the explosion of blooms to see the next season. Clematis are perennials. Could you pot pics?
Wild vines is what kind..?
I’m so busy... “I don’t know if I found a rope or lost a horse.”

Hi bumplbea...sorry these pics don't really show the mess on the trellis, but you can see there's a lot of bare stem. By "wild vines" I just meant wild and crazy, not actually "wild". I suppose I will try to thin out some of the mess and hope for the best!
