hello!

i got this monstera adansonii for very cheap at my local super market, but it's both rootbound and in need of a repotting, but it has "rooted" itself to a wooden pole that's much too short for this beauty's potential.

i plan on reporting it next week, and i was wondering if anyone has tips on how to take out the wooden pole and attach it to a moss pole instead, cause even tho the roots don't penetrate into the pole, they're grabbing pretty hard at it. i also accept reppoting tips in general lmao

im also nervous the wooden pole will rot.

thanks in advance

Nice looking plant, moving to the Tropicals forum.

Nice plant! Mini monstera aka Raphidophora?
Maybe add the moss pole without removing the wood.
Someone will have advice.
Plant it and they will come.

You will probably damage the Monstera a lot in trying to remove it. As Sally said, it's better to add a moss pole than try to change it. The plant is so young you really don't need to repot it, unless you want to put it in a fancy pot. It can stay in that pot for a couple of years before it needs to be shifted.

Hi & welcome! Beautiful plant!

If it was mine, I would take cuttings to start a new pot in the style of your preference. If that idea doesn't appeal, you can cut off the roots that are attaching the vines to the existing pole.

Welcome @kimisaddictedtoplant
I would add to the other advice given, your Monstera looks healthy and happy right now. Not sure why you want to repot it now, but even if a plant is rootbound you might want to wait at least a couple weeks to let a new plant acclimate to its new environment, too much too soon can shock a new plant. You can cut aerial roots off and usually the plant will grow new air roots to attach to a new pole, might take time. There are bendable moss poles you could just add to your larger pot once you replant and train the new growth on it. They get leggy so trimming or wrapping them around poles makes them fuller.
