Incidentally, today I came across these (different patch), which I believe to be Rosehips actually blossoming (which I have never witnessed before).

Nope, rosehips are not blossoming. Rosehips form after a bloom. Hips are the fruit/seed pods formed after the blooms.

The hips on this rose do not match the original hips asked about. You will have to wait until next year when the shrub is blooming to get a better idea. Otherwise, you will just have to settle for a rose as your ID.

Nice show! This reminds me of my rose days when I wanted to collect roses for their hips.
Aleema, I am sure you have some beautiful botanical rose gardens near you where you can be entertained and learn about rose hips.

@LorettaNJ: It is indeed a different patch. I don't often visit the original location, so I may not pass again, but likely shall, at some point.

Rosehips and Hawthorn are on my ToDo list..

I think the diligent posters here should pool their resources, and sponsor a meet/greet between aleema and MRTIM22...
