I'll have to look Jill, but don't forget about Richter's in Canada as well for a great selection of the scented geraniums.

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or under the Lidl thread but look at this beauty they had there!! Wonderful fragrance!!

“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

smelly-goodness score with that jasmine!

I'll look at Richters but am thinking Sandy Mush has growing conditions closer to ours, and that might be an advantage.

Hmm, RIchters has 35 scented geraniums, which seems like a huge selection until you see the list of 80 (17 in the Rose Scented category!) at Sandy Mush.

If Sandy Mush comes out with this year's price list and has that variegated brug with a double white bloom, that will make an order from them a MUST for this year! Right now, I'm trying to figure out if I want to splurge on water lilies or scented geraniums this year...

I'm thinking if you could find the right wood slats, you could make those baskets pretty inexpensively... to me, they look a lot like the boxes we used to make from popsicle sticks! I do like the round ones on that site.

I gave away a couple out-of-bloom phals that were at Mom's apartment to a caregiver who mentioned growing a lot of them. I've had a few survive to rebloom, but that's more the exception than the norm.

Sounds familiar... I started getting "into" mini african violets when my plant shelves were getting too crowded with regular size ones. I currently have ZERO african violets, and I'm not sure I'm ready to go there again, because I did get pretty obsessed with them. They are too easy to propagate!

I wanted to share Ken's tropical potting mix "recipe." (That's the DrDawg that we've bought plumerias and orchids from in the past.) I started using it a couple years ago for my plumerias, but it should work for most tropicals. I use pine bark mini nuggets, whatever compost looks good and has a reasonable price, coarse perlite (similar in size to rock salt), and Osmocote.

2 parts composted cow manure (something like Black Kow)
1 part cypress mulch (clean mulch)
1 part super-coarse perlite
For every 5 gal. of potting media, add 1/2 cup of a balanced, 4-6 mo. slow release fertilizer

Thinking I will plant a brug outside tomorrow in ground. Plumeria, maybe partially sink the pot. I dunno.
Plant it and they will come.

I refreshed the soil in a dozen plumeria & brug pots this afternoon -- half potting mix from last year (with much smaller bits of pine bark) and half new mix from the above recipe. I figure I'll start putting them outside on Sunday but be ready to throw a frost blanket over them.

Sally, your recent "brug corner" photo on the yardening thread reminded me to ask...

Does anybody have a spare cutting of 'Maya' they could share? I haven't checked the swap tool, should look there. I had SO many cuttings in the fall and made the mistake of thinking they'd root faster on a heat mat, lost all but one to rot, then lost the last one in late winter! I know several people are growing it, so if nothing else I can maybe beg for cuttings this fall.

Sally - you have a bloom already!?!!! Lovey dubby

I do have a Plumie (they're still in the basement) that has an inflo Drooling

I have 3 plumeria and 2 brugs still to put into their summer pots, but I ran out of time release fertilizer, so they are halfway potted to keep their roots moist. It's been great weather for planting and moving things outside but a bit mucky for digging holes, so I'm concentrating on container plantings and propagating.

I sucked it up and bought Excaliber fertilizer from FL Colors....will put in with plumies before putting outside. Ken bought some too for the first time this year...we'll see how it does.

I started with half doses of fertilizer in my pots, wonder now if I should order some Excaliber to add to the top (instead of pink bag Osmocote). In for a penny, in for a pound?
