In looking for Excalibur on Amazon just now, I came across something called Professional Monstera Fertilizer. I can't even imagine how enormous my monstera could get if "professionally" fertilized. No thanks, I think I'll keep it stunted.

Option anxiety! I bet Ken is going with their 9 month slow release formulation, but I'm thinking 2 applications of "boost" (2-3 month) or 1 application of the 6 month would be better for our conditions. Even if I put the plumeria herd under lights in the basement this fall, they still won't be actively growing for 9 months.

Chantell, which Excalibur did you go wtih? And do you know how much to use? The only application rate I found on the Florida Colors website covered pots up to 3 gallons (3 tablespoons)... if it's 1 tablespoon per gallon, my 18" pots would need about a cup. They sell Excalubur in 4 pound bags, no clue how many cups that is!

I think a five pound bag of flour is 20 cups. I'm not sure why I think I know that, but there's some guess Shrug! 😛
Plant it and they will come.

According to Google, there are 18 cups in 5 pounds of flour.

Good to know!

Found this on the Florida Colors site, re. Excalibur fertilizer:

This should help you calculate how much fertilizer you need for your plumeria.
4" - 4 1/2" pot = 3/4 tablespoon
6" - 1 gal pot = 1-2 tablespoons
8" - 3 gal pot = 3 tablespoons

To be more accurate it depends on the size of your plant. The larger the plant the larger the root ball. Using a rule of 1 tablespoon per 1" trunk dia. near the soil line.

Each 4 lb package contains approximately 120 tablespoons.

So, 7.5 cups per 4 pound package. Most of my plumerias are 1 to maybe 2 inches diameter at the soil line, and I don't think 1-2 Tbsp per plant would be nearly enough unless applied weekly.

Given that 1-2 Tbsp is also the recommended amount for a 1 gallon pot, maybe I am over-potting them? I have them in a double row with pots touching -- if they were in smaller pots they wouldn't have enough space for their branches -- so I'm sticking with their current pots.

Sorry for the delayed response - it's been non-stop with family events. I ordered the 2-3 month fertilizer since we have the shorter growing season. Hope that helps. I can take a photo of the label if you'd like it.
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

That's the one that seemed most likely to be helpful and "boost" my chances of blooms. I was late getting my plumerias started this year... they are outside now but not yet leafing out... so I'm not sure if I'll see blooms. When I put them outside in April last year (with protection), I did get some!

Thank you!

Does anybody else (who can get together for pickup or who is coming to the spring swap) want a bag of Excalibur? Even if you just want a pound or two, LMK. I'm at the edge of needing a second bag, and it's cheaper when you get more. Ordering 8 pounds, the prices comes to $5.25 per pound (30 tablespoons).

I am guessing Excalibur fertilizer would also be good for brugs, at least mine will get a dose.
