There's an Echeveria cultivar in the database that I'm pretty sure is not valid. The cultivar name is kind of a hint already that something is amiss, because all elegans plants are blue to various degrees.

The original source for the main image and the most likely original source for the name as well is Annie's Annuals.

Their page on the plant here, with that same image

https://www.anniesannuals.com/...

I have been studying pictures of Echeveria elegans here for a couple of days and this is not a match. The chubby leaves are more in the range of xPachyveria or xSedeveria, or some other Echeveria hybrid, than that species, which has relatively thin leaves.

This leaves us with a couple of problems to solve. First, what is the plant pictured above? Can anyone propose a better name? And what do we do with the images under this listing which do not match it?

These 2 additional images look like they could be the same plant as the one above

But these 2 images look like something different (hard to tell with the etiolation in the first picture)

I believe the image from @SugiGirl may be a crested elegans with reversions, and that could go under the species entry. I have no idea what the long-stemmed plant from @csandt may be. I'm thinking it would be best to find homes for these photos before deleting the problematic database entry.

Tagging the members who uploaded images to this entry here, in case they have any input:

Thank you @Castello_decorum for bringing this to my attention. Please speak up if you have any suggestions for how to handle this.

Feel free to delete my entry. If the label was incorrect, I have no idea what its true identity is. I no longer have the plant.

My best guess for the pachyverias would be P. 'Corvus'. I am confident the stretched plant is an etiolated Sedum clavatum. The last one I agree might actually be E. elegans (which is a variable species). Smiling

Thank you for making this thread @Baja_Costero. Now I know how to address such discrepancies in the database. Smiling

Carol, I moved your image to the entry for Sedum clavatum. I think it's good there. Hope that's okay.

Also, I moved the image of the crested plant to the species entry.

Still need to investigate whether this cultivar is a match for 'Corvus', which looks very similar.

Move Annie's photo where needed or go ahead and propose deletion if it doesn't seem to fit anywhere.
The database entry was actually created by @ge1836 back in 2013 so her photo was most likely added first, I didn't add Annie's photo until 2014.

I do not think that we will ever get a positive ID on the xPachyverias. I think the images should be moved to a generic xPachyveria page. Many of the xPachyverias in circulation share the same parentage or one of their parents, and so many of them look nearly identical. In addition, they often get mislabeled in garden centers which only adds to the confusion. Smiling

I have proposed that the images be moved to a generic xPachyveria page. I am also sorry if any duplicate proposals were made on accident (I have bad internet connection, and the page got unresponsive).

Moved!

Thank You!

I have proposed that the entry for this cultivar (now minus the images) be deleted.
