I'm a bridge player, so that's the first association I make with that name. However, there are other daylilies I won't get because their names make me cringe. As you say, that's probably true for everyone.

So true, Nan! I am very big on plant names in my garden, especially when it comes to daylilies. We all have our "things" that irk us. I didn't pay much attention to names before I got into daylilies.

Yes, I saw a daylily in a catalog the other day named "Bambi With Gravy", Scott Elliott, 2022. Ewwww! Wouldn't buy that one but someone else might think it's hilarious. To each his/her own.

Ok, I have to admit, that name made me laugh. I probably wouldn't buy it but I'm not sure the name would prevent me if I really liked the flower. I have lots of flowers whose names make me roll my eyes. However, I didn't name them, so it's a "whatever".

For me, Trump Card is a Tarot Card association. There are 21 Trump Cards and (60?) Lesser Arcana. The Lesser are what turned into modern playing cards.

I fear my Southern Cotton is gone and really do like that one. With only a few exceptions I am not immediately replacing daylilies that did not survive. May begin replacing next Spring, if there are some I just can't live without.

Mine was planted Spring of 2022, so it's made it through at least one winter now. We'll see if it's still there in the Spring.

I loved that album as a kid! Yeah, Magic Carpet Ride has been disappointing. Please Say Yes is a better version of that color and style of Daylily, at least here. And as to the Siloams, I really think Pauline Henry was a minis genius.
