Thanks for asking Jill he isn't doing well. He has dementia but was very functional until last Friday when he had some kind of breakdown with delusions and hallucinations. We thought it was a stroke or UTI but everything came back negative and now all he is doing is sleeping. It's a mess on top of my MIL being in rehab for CHF and Ivy dying Sighing!

Please take care of yourself, Ronnie. All that is going on must seem overwhelming. You will get hugs and support here so post as often and as much as you want.

My crisis of the day is that Oso did some countersurfing while I was taking a brief bath. He got a large hunk of mixed meat. I found about a quarter of it. I can only hope he shared it. Our local meat store has bags of scraps that I cook for the dogs. I was careless to leave one chunk where Oso could grab it. He's the biggest of my dogs and is always hungry.

Due to a major charge for my new TV program and loss of the money I had just paid for the previous Direct TV. we are dealing with nattering about money. Our local bank closed a few months ago and we don't have an ATM - the nearest one is 30 miles north of us. (The Direct TV was from Canada but they found out somehow and shut it down. No refunds.)

I will have to go north soon. I'm tired a lot but spending so much time in bed that I'm not dealing with a lot of pain. We are blessedly lacking any crises. Tony will need stomach surgery sometime soon. My breathing problem is better and Kaiser gave me a breath helper.

It is full on spring here. My aloes are almost done blooming but there are lots of other things opening up so the hummingbirds won't starve.

Sending hugs to everyone as we slog along.

Have all of you gotten your shingles shot? There's something on TV about it. I had to remind my doctor to get my shot several years ago so I occasionally post a reminder. My mother had shingles many years ago. Very unpleasant.

Group hug Ronnie. UTI would have been an easy fix, dang it!

YES to getting the shingles vaccine!! I lost 3 months to shingles last year, as it was just a few dots for the first 5 days, thus diagnosed too late for antiviral meds to work. And getting it once doesn't prevent getting it again... I actually had a second round just before I was scheduled to get the vaccine (wanted to be sure I'd healed first); fortunately that time I was able to start antiviral med right away and avoided a recurrence of the awful nerve pain.

Hope Oso doesn't suffer any ill effects from his "scooby snack."

My doctor is excellent but I only got the shingles shot because I asked him about it. That's why I post the occasional reminder.

Yes to shingles shots, worth it. Though it is the one shot that made my arm sore, nothing compared to having shingles.
Plant it and they will come.

It hurt like hell for 2 weeks but so worth it. The pharmacist said the vaccine is "thicker" than normal vaccines therefore it's gonna be painful going in plus it had be to be kept cold which is why most dr.s can't carry it in house. No room for a drug frig. Got mine at CVS and made sure I scheduled both injections. A friend of mine got shingles and he said you don't want to get this.

Maple's results came back, and her white count is back down to normal. FIV test (which our vet likes to repeat 90 days after a cat leaves a rescue/foster situation) was also negative. All good! Not sure all Byron's numbers are back yet.

After even one dose of the anti inflammatory Rx, Josie felt SO much better. She's got another week of meds and is still on exercise restriction, so it's 1 block walks for now, half a block to the stop sign and back. I'm glad we didn't stick with the "wait and see" approach. Also, I didn't realize until the vet did his exam and was talking with me that his biggest concern (given her age) was cancer, very relieved there was no sign of thickening in bones or lymph nodes, and her response to the Rx also backs up the theory that the problem was "just" overdoing it at the beach.

Group hug for both Ronnie & Ginger... and for anybody else who needs one!

Thank you ALL for the kind words. It really does mean a lot to me.
One of the harder aspects of all of this is I won't be able to get a puppy like I was thinking come summer. My MIL will be moving in with us and there isn't any way right now I can handle both. It will be hard enough getting her used to a 215# gentle giant and a lap-sitting Frenchie! She has never liked dogs and I don't think at 89 she is going to start Whistling

Ronnie, my MIL was never too big on dogs either, but when she had to go into a nursing home (at 99 years old) DH would take our collies to visit there occasionally and she thoroughly enjoyed that (as did many of the other residents). So who knows - maybe your MIL will finally discover why we all love them so much Smiling .

Happy to be home but having a hard time with the post surgery edema...my feet and legs are so swollen they hurt. Glare Kids needed to go to the store yesterday...thought Bailey and I
would ride along too. All was well until the last stop where the car would not start. Grumbling Called a neighbor...bought new battery locally( cost a fortune) put it in but still no starting. Sooooo now the car has been towed to the shop. And we are stuck here with no way to go and a non working less than gracious neighbor to ask for help. The one who helped with battery is really nice but he works
