That is a pretty spectacular difference Ted. Not to be believed. But I imagine it is based on lens quality and mega-pixels.

The flower ain't too shabby either!!! Thumbs up

Nothing too special but these 2 Ludisia alba are about to bloom. I like these a lot better for the leaves, not the blooms

Gina, surely most people grow Jewel Orchids like this one for their gorgeous leaves! Lovey dubby Very pretty! I think blooms are just a bonus?

The leaves on that Ludisia alba are just works of art, beautiful. I love the red sparkly veining on the Ludisia discolor too. Think I may have to give them a try again this year, and give them a lot more shelter from the heat and bright light this time. Maybe the deep shade under my mango tree will suit them. I'm sure if I see one, it will 'jump' into my shopping cart.

Ooh, speaking of jumping into shopping carts, this sweet little mini-Phal did so at Trader Joe's this morning. Got to give them credit, they have reduced their price on these by a dollar recently! This one was only $6.99 and a healthy little plant with two bloom spikes and lots of buds.

It was carefully staked, but I took those stupid stakes off it to let it cascade naturally. It's still in it's pot, just 'parked' in the basket with the Miltassia.

The recent talk about Lucinda plants got me thinking I need to check on mine. Growing great in the semi-shaded area. But, I have to be more careful to not get water on the leaves. Leaving Spots. And I think it is time for a re-pot. Does a Lucinda like to be contained in a small pot or do I pick a larger shallow pot to give it room to travel since it is a terrestrial and they are a surface growing rhizome type plant.

I would plant a Ludisia in a shallow pot/planter and let it roam sideways. Watering from the top down here, but I collect rain water, so it's ok.

Cute one, Elaine! Thumbs up

Hey Ted, did you fall victim to 'spell check'?? You mentioned talking about Ludisia or Jewel Orchids and your spell check might have changed it to "Lucinda"! Darn ole spell check!!!

I planted mine in a bonsai pot I thought was plenty big but it has left the pot. I think a 2 ft wide bonsai pot might be sufficient. LOL I have to say, the part still in the pot looks better than the parts growing off across the bench.

I also have a Macodes petola. It struggled for 3 years then I stuck the remaining 3 tiny pieces in my terrarium planted in sphagnum moss. They now cover the entire terrarium floor but so far, have not eaten any other plants.

I wish I could blame it on spell check. It's called trying to do two things at once. Now my multi-tasking skills are getting harder to control. After all, I am not getting old. I am already there!

Thanks Ursula! I'm breaking down some terrariums in the house, I'm tired of keeping them up and plan to use some of them as prop tanks over winter and others as warden cases for single plants. I have some Ludisia in one to take back out to the GH soon

I waited for this Lysudamuloa (Lys.) Red Jewel to open. When it was just about fully opened, the Santa Ana winds came across and knocked her off the stem. Still pretty when almost opened
