We don't have a moderator for the Houseplant Forum, so I wasn't sure where to ask my question and decided to post here.

A member just shared a really great Longwood Gardens article regarding houseplants: and it would be helpful to have it as a sticky at the top of the Houseplant Forum, or in the information box on the right side of the forum page so that it will be easy to find; otherwise it gets buried way down the page.

Is this at all a possibility?

I would set it as a Sticky except it's copyrighted material. This is from the Longwood Gardens site:
"Restrictions on Use

Then it should be deleted from the site... ?

I thought so... instead a link can be posted that takes one to that article on the Longwood site.

It doesn't say "unless you credit and link".

Since the Longwood Blog is free to anyone, I doubt there would be an issue if the credit is given.

Sorry Rj, that's not how copyright and licencing works. Just because a site is publicly available does not mean that its contents can be reused with citation.

I think @dave needs to handle this as it involves copyrighted material.

I think it is all about the copyright issue. I think explicit permission would be required.

Whatever outcome results from that, I would just like to point out that a link to a publication is fine, a brief quotation from that publication is fine, but copying and pasting extended text or any images from a copyrighted work is not allowed, generally speaking, unless you secure advance permission. This applies to news articles, science articles, anything with that symbol denoting intellectual property.

Just to add to Baja's comment, many things are copyrighted by default. It is not necessary to include the copyright or trademark symbol; if an article or photo does not explicitly say which licence it is published under, then by default a restrictive copyright applies.
