An AHS Awards update....
In 2013 five cultivars hybridized by Jack Carpenter received recognition from the AHS garden judges.
Texas Kaleidoscope (2001) received one of the twelve 2013 Awards of Merit and will be placed on the Awards and Honors ballot in two years where it will compete with other eligible cultivars for the Stout Silver Medal.
Feliz Navidad ( 2006), a bright red with an orange watermark was a runner up for a 2013 Award of Merit.
Kaleidoscopic Intrigue (2009), one of Jack's amazing patterned daylilies, received a 2013 Honorable Mention and is on it's way upward to compete for an Award of Merit three years from now.
One of my favorites, Kansas Kitten (2002), was 2nd runner up for the Don C. Stevens Award. The Don C. Stevens Award is given annually to the best boldly eyed or banded cultivar judged by the garden judges.
A previous Honorable Mention winner, Cosmic Kaleidoscope (2006) was recognized as the 1st runner up to the winner, Rose F. Kennedy (Doorakian 2007), of the R.W. Munson JR. Award for best distinctly patterned daylily.
