What types of lilium do you grow there in Vanadzor? Are there any native Species lilies in Armenia? I Googled Vanadzor and I see it's very pretty there with cool night time temperatures in the summer.

Awesome and Sunwolf are budding out Yellow-Green has one bloom open but I've not been able to access a worthy picture yet. Skyline just opening and Pink Perfection seems poised.

African Queen

That is a pretty nice African Queen you have, Sue. I count 18 buds (flowers); nice pedicel style. I'm still looking for a good example here--I've gone through about 2 dozen from various sources over the last 10-12 years and culled every last one out to the gardens of others. That's the hell of it with strains--the luck of the draw, I guess. You got lucky! And, I'll still keep searching.

Jmorth--Everybody is interested in seeing Awesome, but this year I want to pay particular attention to your Pink Perfection in detail, especially 'face on'. I'll explain more when we compare pictures. Mine is about two to three weeks out yet. I think it finally divided after teasing me on and off with double noses. Both have 12 buds each and had been scheduled for cloning this Fall.

My African Queen up against the branches of my Florist Silver Dollar (Eucalyptus pulverulenta 'Baby Blue') makes such a nice pair together! These blooms are much smaller than the other one posted above, the sun hits them later and the soil is not a good.

I think it's a different run of strain altogether. I've had this last one too. Switching them around or 'trading places' wouldn't change much. Been there--done that.

This was the same one last year, they looked just like my other one in the full sun. I got all three in the same package from the same vendor. It's just slightly smaller this year.

Maybe it's the California sunshine!

Indeed, we have have moderate summers. Our area is very favorable for growing bulbous plants.
There are two lily species growing wild in our country: lilium szovitsianum and lilium monadelphum var. armenum.

My lily collection not not very large. I grow some Asiatics, LA, OT, Orientals, Trumpets and longiflorums. My favorite lilies are Trumpets and Aurelians, but pity there are not common in trade. This year I ordered some from Lily Nook and The Lily Garden. What is very bed here that thy are mostly offered as strains and it is very hard to get a good strain, which resemble a true variety. Here many fellows show their 'African Queen', all look different and no one resembles true 'African Queen'. Now I thin that they are not direct strains but strains from the strains.
