Amazing, these were huge limbs I salvaged off huge plants we have on the other side of our property. Notice the June beetle! I could not believe my luck.

Thumb of 2013-06-28/MagerRooRHammer/7aa7c0

My current indoor collection.. or part of it I guess.

Also if anyone can tell me what the cactus with the pink flower is at the top. It was inherited basically and thus im not sure what it is.

First of all, welcome to ATP and to the Cactus forum. Always fun to see where others interests lie.

I am jealous of anyone who can plant in ground but even more so when I see the delightful blooms as a result.

I am no help on IDing your inherited cactus but will say it is lovely. Kristi

Thank you everyone! It all took me alot of time landscaping, planting... re-planting, its all worth it when others enjoy it!

I'm learning just how fortunate I really am to grow this type of garden. Our town is on a mesa about 15 miles off the pacific coast, an area known for its duned beaches (Oso Flaco, Guadalupe, Nipomo, Oceano, and parts of Pismo Beach). The sandy soil plus the climate are perfect for cacti and succulents. However, drive 10 minutes east and the soil quickly turns to adobe clay. These areas of clay and volcanic rock are perfect for wine grapes though Whistling

Another inherited plant. Not sure. Its a big blue echeveria that sometimes gets pink highlights if the sun is just right. Its very faint though.

Thumb of 2013-06-30/MagerRooRHammer/153df5

Aloe brevifolia I think. Another one pass me down.

I dont understand why places dont have labels for half their cactus, but at least this was healthy at purchase from the local hardware store.

Another anonymous cactus from the hardware store. I dont know whats going on, if its supposed to have yellow/orange highlights, its got fur and what looks like and feels like cat whiskers coming out the top. Seriously strange and cool.
