Twice now, I've barely got a glimpse of a bird that's visiting the hummingbird feeder. I think it's yellow and black...oriole, maybe. I've seen that one Audubon's Oriole not long ago. Shy, doesn't want to be seen, obviously. I've seen the woodpecker going to the orange halves in the back yard, but not an oriole yet.

Oh how cool ... I've only seen flash of an Oriole twice down here!

Photo's from today:

Carolina Wren (haven't seen these cuties in a few months so good to have them back) and Northern Mockingbird:

Red-winged Blackbird and ............................... American Crow (I've seen large flocks of these guys lately and they are so loud):

Blue Jay's love when I put peanuts in the feeders and they bathe in a saucer of water on the deck, leaving the 2 birdbaths in the yard for other birds. The last pic is a Jay perched in the tree after his bath:

I've been putting raisins and peanuts in a saucer atop this empty hanging basket for the Mockingbirds but the Red-bellied Woodpeckers have been visiting for treats too:

The birds and hummers seem to really like that Viburnum he is facing. It is about to bloom.

The Cardinal is one of my favorites! I had an elderly neighbor who used to ask me if I thought she could catch one and put it in a cage for a pet and I had to tell her it was a wild bird and not advisable to try to catch one, LOL.

Seven states have the Northern Cardinal as their state bird: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia & West Virginia.

The Northern Mockingbird id our state bird here in Florida. Five states have the Northern Mockingbird as their state bird: Arkansas, Florida, Mississippee, Tennessee & Texas.

Orange Blossom is our official state flower. I always thought it would be cool if members of ATP could have three avatar photos all in a row; one of their state bird and another of their state flower and the third of their choosing.

If anyone wants to know what their state bird is, there's a list here: http://www.50states.com/bird/#...

I saw the yellow and black bird that comes to the hummingbird feeder today...only through the house window, however. Tried to quickly get a picture through the window, but a branch in my line-of-sight kept the focus very fuzzy. But I'm pretty sure now that it's an Audubon's Oriole...it had the black hooded head. It comes and goes pretty fast.

Well! I was wrong, I guess! I got some pictures through that window later, and this one is definitely NOT the Audubon's! I know I've seen a bird with much more yellow than this coming to the hummingbird feeder also. Maybe it could be the same species, only a juvenile or adult female. Anyway, I'm tending to believe this one could be a Scott's Oriole, just not sure. Wish I'd gotten better pictures, but I realize I was lucky to catch any at all! Wonder why these birds are coming here now.

Yes I agree , fantastic shots, Linda! I tip my hat to you.

Oh, what a beautiful shot of the fluffy Cardinal yawning, Lin!! Hurray!

And the Titmouse! ....We don't see them here really. But in Mass. they were just everywhere. I had one divebomb me when I was in his way once.
They are real characters. Hilarious! Hilarious!

Hello to all, Looking around at all the different forums on ATP can be very dangerous, at least for me as I find all these different things that I'm interested in.......birds is one of them. We moved to a new place in a very rural area last fall. I have been keeping track of all the birds that we've seen there since then. I believe that we are up to 38 different species. We do feed the birds. My favorite sightings this year are the 2 pair of Rose-breasted grosbeaks that have been visiting my feeders since this spring and the other day, finally, a bluebird. I sure hope I will see more!
