It's easy to see why the old daylily became popular when you see all the plantings in the area here on July 4th! This tiny cottage up the hill from a bay has a massive planting on either side of their drive. Might be 40 ft long. Just had to stop and take a photo from the car yesterday.

And so my daylily season begins. About 20 varieties blooming out there this morning. Can't wait to visit on this yet another hot humid day. I am doing NOTHING (she says, HA!) in the garden. Well, might take a few pics! I count this day as 'all the estates had better be ready'. My garden on the other hand is way behind on what it needs - the cobbler's shoes and all that! It has been a rough spring/summer with all the cold rainy wet days and last week we started with humid scorchers.

Must be enlarged to get the full impact of this tiny cottage and the massive plantings of fulva! Had I been able to park, I would have taken a shot from across the street. But then...you all know what this looks like, don't you!!!
