'Montego Bay'


Doing a little data collection on these "purple" lilies coming out of Holland. Who holds up color and substance in the garden?
New for me this year is 'Tartano' who initially has shown some promise with good substance, strong petals and vivid color with heat in the 90 degree range.


Last year a lot of these "purples" literally just about melted in the heat. One in particular, 'Blueberry Crush' was especially sad with temps in the 100 degree range. I see an OT as something that can take full sun without fading, or without fading much. After all, they tell me that these have the excellent qualities of both trumpets and orientals. But I am finding OT lilies are not all bred equally.

Tartano looks great! I have Palazzo here that will probably bloom next month. We'll see how the purple in that one stands up to the 90's and 100's that we usually get around that time.

A little deformed Satisfaction

Great to see the OT's.
Satisfaction has good years and bad years,Blooms are really sensitive to long periods of heat and discolor here.
Mine should start any day.

I kept hunting and thinkits a Regal.Black Dragons have a pale stripe inside the petals.

I check Plant database and Plant Files on Daves Garden for real pix of plants in real settings.
I think the biggest atrocity is the Midnight on The Lily Garden.I love that site but the lily is dark mink and not eggplant color as its pictured.
American meadows has a few bad ones too.

Dave's garden is nice but it doesn't always have the newer lilies on there.

Have had problems the last few years with the American Lilies coming to me virused. Susan yours is lovely!

Greg: You are right.PLUS There are a lot of vendors website photos on PF. I guess as examples of plants images its O K but I want more visual info.Give me a home garden setting any day.
