These cactus were found by my friend, Steve Collins working at Flower Song farm in Loomis, Wa ( https://maps.google.com/?ie=UT... )
they could be opuntia fragilis , opuntia polyacantha or opuntia x columbiana
it has the longer spines of o. polyacantha and like many i have seen some of the cacti look like they could be fragilis
o. columbiana has been described as a hybred between the o. polyacantha and o. fragilis so i would cautiously call it that.

first here is a photo of the area taken from Flower Song farm. the rock outcrop that you see is where he found the cacti, on the back slopes

here are some photos of the cacti and one succulent he found there

i do not know what the succulent is

The succulent could be from the Crassula family. I wonder if its growth will be upright or vining type.

Or... it may well be just a weed.
I am not familiar with what grows around there, but it looks a LOT like the horrible purslane. Portulaca.
And if it is... you don't want any seeds to fall in your garden as you won't be able to get rid of it.
Unless you treat it as a greenie for your salad... which many people do!
Just a possible ID !

I tend to agree with you, Calin - that's what I thought when I first saw it.

Welcome.
I've read recently about this miracle plant... salad, Omega 3, vitamins... but I'm reluctant to mix it in my parents tomato/cucumber salad Smiling

Ow, ow, ow....

No, Stush - at first I thought it was some kind of ceramic sculpture or something in someone's garden, lol. Took me a bit!
