Eeekk! Blinking That would scare me away from gardening! Or living there!

I have the same weed and only have been pulling it where it's coming up on my crushed granite pathways. Going to try the Soil Solarization method for my other more obnoxious weeds. (Wild Morning Glory, or Field Bindweed)

Sue........

This bear is not afraid of humans, dogs, gun shots or anything. She has the most incredible gardens on 4 acres and the dang bear is in heaven. He continues to wreck all of her hard work. Last night he got the bee hives and was going after the chickens. She shot over his head when he went for the chickens, and he just turned a looked at her and walked away ... to the fish pond. That makes this bear very dangerous.

She's ranting that she didn't spend all of her time planting vegetables, cleaning up her berry patches, etc for a dang bear. She does her best to avoid any close encounters, but he even comes up on her deck.

I don't have to worry about morning glories or bind weed. Most morning glories don't survive the winter up here and don't come back. Bind weed is around, but never seems to get a good foothold, so it's not much of a problem for me.

The thugs are some of the native grasses. I can't use the solarization method because they are coming up in areas where that won't work. If I can get most of them out, I'll be mulching like a crazy woman.

Smiles,
Lyn

Can the State Fish and Game do anything? Seems like he needs to be relocated since he lacks fear of humans now.

Yeah. They gave her permission to shoot it. Of course, they did not tell her how to dispose of a 400 lb dead bear.

Invite a couple hunter friends over. They'd probably love to bag a bear (is that the correct terminology? not a hunter...)
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

Yup ... that's the plan. Actually, the guy that is the best hunter is out of town this week, so she's coping.

Wow ... did we ever get off topic Hilarious!

Whatever do you mean, Lyn -- can't a bear be considered an undesireable growth, aka weed??

Not surprising. They don't have the funds to deal with relocating animals or even hunting them and disposing of them.

Guess we'll just have to name him "Weed" so he fits on a weed thread. Smiling

Lyn
