Yup, all pullets, you're lucky! At 3 months any roosters would be showing lots of comb and would be crowing. They are nice looking!

I wish all you chicken lovers were closer to me in NJ. My neighbor has 8 beautiful black game hens...healthy and big. Most are pullets not sure about two of them. Too young to tell. He wants to give them to whoever wants them at no charge. I really want them out of here soon because they love me and my bird seed and spend most of their day at my house. They are well fed. If you know anyone who wants to drive to Wrightstown NJ to get 8 chickens, let me know. I will set it all up for you to pick them up.

Well, these aren't the best pictures, but you can get the idea. Mom is really protective of course.

I'll bet that little chick will be spoiled rotten by the mom!
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

This little chick is 1 day old, and the only one to hatch ,(or maybe survive) out of many eggs. Hatched under the barn where we can't see.
Not the best picture as it's hard to get close.

To me, here in the MiddleEast(still really cold, snow, ice, ) that is worth acorns. If I can figure out how to send you some you will have some ASAP. Our chickens (neighbors but they live here in my barn) are range chickens and they are outside in all kinds of horrible weather. Only one rooster goes inside and he was hatched in the neighbor's house and is very tame as is one of the other hens, but she is in love with one of the other roosters so she perches in the big trees instead of going inside. We never know where the eggs are going to be and it is just a real surprise when 10 little chicks come running around. I pray they do not hatch in this weather. I am so happy you have one and hope you have many more. Here is a picture of them in the snow last week. They are all game hens and roosters and are tough as nails. They are a real pain at times, but I keep on feeding them since they are here most of the time. Sighing! I can not see animals not being fed and watered. The neighbor is a city person and he does not realize the importance of fresh water, etc.

Thanks for the acorns JB, that answers the question i sent you. Dean has brought the chicks inside for years to protect them. I finally convinced him last year to try leaving a few with the hen. They survived the roosters, other hens, predators, our 8 cats, and the cold. They are bantam mixes. Had to remind him with this one when he was all set to grab it. I hate them stinking up the house. I am not ma kettle! Im going to show him your snow picture, thanks.

We lost so many to the darn fox. Not the chicks believe it or not because they came in the chicken house at night until they got a bit faster, then, they were smart enough to go under things where the fox could not reach them. I think out of 12 chicks we lost three. They got killed after they were grown because they were not high enough in the trees for the fox not to reach them. If they roost too low, the fox can get them but he will not go up high on the arborvitae since he is too big to fit between the branches. The arborvitae are very tall and the 7 hens and roosters left go way to the top at night and he can not get to them. I love bantam, never had them. We no longer have chickens but I spoil the neighbors since there is really no way to keep them home when they range. Fences don't help...feeding them on their side of the fence doesn't help....they eat and fly back over here so I gave up. They are a mess with the gardens but they are just chickens and what can I say? Farms are farms. Thank God we have only one barn cat left and she loves the chickens. They play and chase each other. We gave up the animals years ago when both kids got full time jobs off the farm. I kept sheep for awhile but as I got older that got to be too much. Now it is just the dogs, cat and four parrots. Plus the neighbor's chickens. When I feed the backyard birds, this is what happens.

This crazy hen loves to eat out of the bird feeders and she is so tame you can pick her up and love her. She gets on the fence and comes over to my head and waits for me to touch her.

I caged in my garden to keep chickens out. Was the best thing i ever tried. Now, i only fight bugs. Last fall i made a lizard home for them to overwinter in there. Hopefully, they will feast on bugs this summer.

We have three of those beautiful roosters. Their colors are just gorgeous and they are nice tempered around humans. I am not a rooster fan because many years ago we had one that used to attack us when we fed. I hated that sucker and eventually we sold him.

Do you mean the horseshoe in my little picture? That is one I made to sell at Valentine. It also comes with a hat.

Thank you Porkpal. Making them keeps me busy and off the streets. Rolling on the floor laughing At 86 y.o.I have to limit my travels now. My kids get nervous when I drive too far. Sighing!
