So pretty, everybody! Like a butterfly heaven!

Well, I noticed a few eggs on my milkweed! They're so sneaky, those butterfly moms. Since I didn't see it, I wonder...Queen or Monarch? Maybe it'll be back tomorrow!

I was walking around the yard this morning, debating whether to mow the lawn before the rains hit; it's really in need of mowing since we've been having a lot of rain every afternoon, but I decided to take pictures of some butterflies instead ... and I still haven't mowed the lawn! Green Grin!

I agree, I'd rather take pictures than mow the lawn any day. Green Grin! Thanks Christine!

I went out to check my orchids today and while I was out took a few butterfly pics. This Polydamas was eagerly laying eggs on my pipevine (A. tomentosa).

Then, I was walking around and scared up this Queen. I rarely see these in my yard so it was quite a treat. Although it was a male, so looks like no caterpillars for me. Sad

I still have Monarch cats around though. In fact, I had to move one to a different plant because he'd eaten all the leaves on the one he was on. Speaking of Monarchs, I saw this chrysalis on one of my shepherd hooks yesterday. It never ceases to amaze where these critters will make their chrysalis.

Melanie: Great pic's ... I love that Polydamus Swallowtail, I've never seen one up this way and it sure is beautiful! Nice shot of the Queen too ... and oh my, that is a really great shot of the Monarch Chrysalis! I've seen the monarch's lay eggs on my tropical milkweed all summer, I see the caterpillars eating the leaves ... but I've never seen a chrysalis! They are just so cool looking!

Jay, that is awesome that you were able to view so many Gulf Frit's!! The last one is a Swallowtail, maybe the Black or possibly Palmedes Swallowtail.
