My gold heufelliis, 'Gold Bug' and 'Xanthoheuf" have gone green but several of the S. cantabricum forms have gone yellow-ish or maybe I should say pale green, like S. calcareum 'Limelight'.
Several of the seedling heufelliis that are descended from 'Correvon's Form' are showing yellow color and others are very grass green, like the way that 'Xanthoheuf' goes in summer, so I'm anticipating some nice golds and yellows in these groups. Bill Nixon had said that 'Correvon's Form' (we knew it as 'Palaisii' in those days) often threw gold seedlings. These seedlings are the F3 from that plant but it is interesting that the tendency to throw golds has passed down to its non-yellow descendants. I'm hoping that these will take after their parents and be better growers than 'Xanthoheuf' (admittedly the bar is rather low!!).
My Wolcott's Variety is pink. It's pretty much always pink.
My most yellow jovi is Lemon Sky, but it's still mostly green. Gold Bug doesn't have any yellow, but it is lighter than most of the others. Greenstone is just green.
Here are my yellows
Jovibarba 'Braunii'
Jovibarba 'rollers' f/Aione (sorry I couldn't bring myself to crop this photo, so you're also seeing J. hirta f/Baba Mare above the rock, and then 2 NOIDs that were mixed in with the Aione and I kept them
S 'Michael's Golden'
'Olivette'
'Tokajense'
Seattle's not a bad place Marilyn! But it is expensive to move here! (OR on the other hand??) Are yours in full sun? Mine looks bigger than yours too,so it could be that yours is still a young 'un?
Name: Marilyn Greenwood Village, CO (Zone 5b) Garden today. Clean next week.
I got it in May, so yes it is a young'un. I have visited Seattle several time when my bro and family lived out there, there were few times of Sun when I visited, so I am afraid I would go stir crazy. We get a lot of sun here.
