Thanks for your reply. I honestly don't think I'll get any volunteer seedlings in the yard, as this one seedpod was the first and only one my plant has ever produced, and there were only a few seeds in it. I think that it was in 2013 that I'd grown my original 2 plants from seed, They bloom nicely each summer, with large dark pink flowers, but I don't think they're very fertile, at least not with each other. But the seeds I got last Fall looked good, so I'm hoping to get some seedlings this Spring.

I also last Fall collected some seeds from an old-fashioned hardy pink hibiscus that's been growing for years in my sister's yard. It has rather small flowers. I think it's an older variety. I've planted those seeds also, and I'm waiting to see what happens. If I end up getting some plants, they might produce fertile seeds with the 2 larger pink plants that I have,
