Funny visual! Smiling

We are on target here, actually I am a bit ahead of myself - if frost threatens it should me take ca 1 hour to move the rest of my plants!
Done!!

Congrats, Ursula. You did really well this year.

It rained all night and all morning here. I think it quit about 1:30 this afternoon. The orchid club now wants to come to my house as part of next month's meeting. I guess the prep work will keep me busy. The ribbons were won by a guy who had a Vanda the size of a small car. I've never seen anything like it. When he drug that thing in I knew I had no chance to win anything. Oh well.

Well, now you know how they all feel when you drag in your big Grammy, or that fabulous Den. nobile.

You didn't get a picture, by any chance?

Thanks, Jim

That Vanda sounds impressive!

Sending some of the sunshine we have here all week, your way! It is just gorgeous to be outside.

The orchid club always takes pictures of the winners and their plants, so I will pass it along the big Vanda pic when they publish it.

It began to rain again last night about 8 PM and it just let up about 2 PM today. I don't know for sure how much rain we have had in the past three days but everything is soaked and there is minor flooding.

It is near the end of September and thus the return of the floof season is upon us. Here are my first two offerings:

Leading off is Blc. Frank Fordyce 'Waiakea Uka'.

And batting second is the queen of floof herself, Blc. Chia Lin 'New City'.

Oh, those are both just lovely! Can't wait to see the giant vanda that beat you, though. Must have been immense!

Lovely, they're both hitting a home run. Love that Chia Lin, mine is recovering but it may be years until I see a flower again.

We've had steady rain all night, and it's still off and on. Just checked the radar and there is a whole lot more heading our way, but you are north of the rain now, it appears.

My pool is overflowing and the sump pump was running every few minutes all night. Our house is downhill from about half of the yard, so drainage needs a little help in this kind of weather.

Are you sure it is 'New City' and not 'Floof City'? Whistling Both are gorgeous, Jim.

Not to make you jealous, we had another picture book day here - gorgeous sunshine in the slower seventies. This is a very rare occurrence here, so many beautiful days in a row! No complaints.

It seems this rainy mess has dropped to the south of me as I have had no rain for 3 hours or so. It looks like Elaine is still taking a pounding. They are calling for a nice weekend with slightly lower temps and humidity. Meanwhile, I couldn't possibly mow the back 40 without getting stuck in the mud.

My Degarmoara Flying High is working on a nice spike. By the way, official rain total here for the last three days is 6 inches.

Total here was around 8in from Monday to Wednesday. Wish we could send you some,Carol. Flying High is very nice, Jim.

I am rewarded this morning with another bloom on this big NOID catt. The Spathoglottis are blooming their heads off, too.

That NOID Cat is just so pretty! I usually won't buy without a name tag but that's one I would go for anyway!

Thanks, you two. It had a tag when I got it. I'm sure there's a squirrel conspiracy around here to steal tags. Or it might be down inside the pot somewhere. I potted it up into 'way too big a pot when I first got it, so it didn't bloom for 2 years, until January, and since then it has now bloomed 3 times! But it's been in the same pot for 3 years, too. Sadly, I will have to break the pot to get it out, I suppose.

It has a lot more red in this bloom than the last spike of blooms had. I wonder if it's the dull, rainy weather this week that did it.

I wish you could too, Elaine! I'm down to a couple of gal. of rain water. Summer lasted all of 3 weeks, and now we're back to squirrely weather, but I did manage a few pics. before the winds started.
