Yes, DH spent a year's orchid budget installing copper strips at both the doors to the pool cage. At least I know now the snails won't come in that way.

Little Stellis is just sweet - look at those pretty little fringed petals.

This little Stelis is one of my husband's favorites!

Elaine, that will hopefully do the trick! I am envisioning snails and slugs standing in line at those doors now.... Thumbs up

Another couple of warm and sunny days and then we start looking at steady night temps in the low fifties F here. Time to haul every plant back inside. The greenhouse sparkles and so do all windows around the house. Mustn't block the light, right?
This was probably one of the better Summers regarding Orchid growth for me - very little black rot and that only on minor plants. The larger orchids/mainly Catts did fine and so far it looks like a promising bloom season. Keeping fingers crossed!

We're all looking forward to seeing lots more of your wonderful blooms, Ursula.

We had such an extreme amount of rain, I'm surprised I didn't lose more to the Black Plague. I had several plants lose a few leaves, and one a couple of pb's, but so far have only lost one Phal, and it didn't have any black rot! I've learned that I can probably water my orchids a lot more than I have been in the summer. Most of my plants have a fantastic amount of healthy new growth, so I am hoping to see more flowers coming along, too.

Accidentally posted this in the August thread (I've been a little out of it today) so here it is in September...

Finally, I have blooms to share! Both of these orchids were purchased at Byrd's going out of business sale where Melanie went a little crazy. LOL! And today I noticed a third one that has a bud on it so I brought it inside the shade house where it will hopefully, be protected from little rodent nibblers.

Here's Pot. Burana Beauty. The blooms aren't very big but they're cute! And they smell nice. I had two clusters of blooms but one of them got sunburned in Dad's pressure washing incident. So one of the clusters look a little dried out even if they did bloom. But this cluster looks bright and pretty!

The other bloom is Blc. Hawaiian Affection x C. Velutina. I had no idea what this one was going to look like but I have a soft spot for orchids with Hawaiian names. This one is really smelling up the shade house (in a good way)!

Melanie, thanks so much! (I did delete both your and Carol's follow-up post in the August thread)

The Potinara Burana Beauty is very cute and I am familiar with its scent, I like it a lot! Nice Blc. Hawaiian Affection x too! Lovey dubby

Beautiful show, Ursula. I like all of them but my favorites would have to be Bl Tiny Kiss and the Miltonia regnellii. I have some new plants in bloom too but it is just so hot out there right now. No rain for a few days so the temps are up and some of the grass is stressed. Choir practice tonight and all day palm school tomorrow. At least my orchid presentation is almost finished. We leave early Friday (7 AM flight) for Indiana and my high school class reunion (50 years). Oh my, where does the time go?

I'm leaning towards that lovely flashy Ctna. Why Not. Besides I like the name.

Jim, enjoy your class reunion! We did something like that ( 40 years) some years ago, it was a lot of fun!

Carol, my Miltonia curls sometimes too, for some reason just not this time. I love, love the Sobralia. We saw so many Sobralias in Ecuador flowering right on the road embankments, they were just gorgeous. I bet I have this one identified in my Ecuador report, I have to scroll through the pictures.
The Blc is so delicate!

Love, Love, Love that Habenaria! Lovey dubby I did go through the Sobralia pages, but there weren't pics of all of them, and I didn't find a match. It may be an unregistered cross. It's pretty, anyway, and it was free. Big Grin

Carol, I looked too and didn't find yours. I agree, on the x and it sure is pretty!

Regarding the Habenaria, I figured this is it, and from here on will slowly go down. I kept it inside the last few days so it wasn't exposed to the elements. It was fun to see it opening! Smiling
