Just had my garden helper here for the morning, and finally did feel a little bit of "coolth" as long as we were in the shade and the breeze could get to us.

Phew, I'm still awfully sweaty and dirty though. Gardening is not for wimps at this time of year! Oak tree and hedge along the east side of the house get lots of attention these days, as they are on the shady, breezy side.

Have any of us done a brick patio? I finally found the material--Chicago Brick-- and am researching people to lay it. Am doing two --a square, small area and a free form(well not exactly "free"but not so structured. Saw one in Barbados that has stuck in my mind and am finally going to do it!!! May do Coquina shell pathways with it as that is not much more than the regular shell. Am lookin to start in November when we are back from traveling and it's a bit cooler for the men.
Have moved here from DG-- will take me a while to get the lay of the land.

When one of our gardening friends Jean (Qwilter) gets back from vacation and can talk with us again; I hope she'll sent some pictures of her beautiful natural form front walkway she layed. It may be of interest to you and I will remind her if she misses this post. Its excellent and looks beautiful. Welcome Debi! Welcome! I tip my hat to you.

Welcome! Toomanyorchids. You will like it here I am sure!

The whole shell for a pathway lasts much longer than the crushed shell so I would definitely recommend it.

Hi Debi, and Welcome! over here! We have missed seeing your 'too many orchids' for a while now. Be sure to check out the Orchids forum too. It's very active and lots of fun!

We did a brick paver pool deck soon after we moved to this house 6 years ago, and it has been really nice. I wanted porous paving, so the brick is just laid directly on a machine-packed sand base, with little or no space between the bricks. Until this (rainy, rainy) summer, we've never had any growth on it, but this year, a little bit of mossy stuff got started, and I had to spray it with some Physan. I needed to use it on my orchids this year, too, or they'd have all rotted from all the rain.

So many forums and where to put those pic's from the gardens today? Hmmm, "Well, We are heading into Fall, and I was cleaning up this little area today for Fall, so this forums O.K.!" (David said to himself, in his rambling way of thought...)

HaHaHaHaHa! Just plain ole' goodnight everybody, enjoy, and dream well!

There will be something new and exciting hiding in your gardens that you will find unexpectedly tommorrow. Its a guarantee!

Just a quick note. I'm back & will be heading off to class soon but wanted to check in.

So much to read...............about the paved patio/walkway, did you know there is now porous brick? Looks like thereal stuff but lets water thru so better for the environment. I'll have to look for pics of my walkway. i had it done. Some things I know are more than I can handle.

Anyone have tips for rooting Plumeria "branches"? I brought 2 freshly cut back fm TX. One smells like lemons & not sure about the other. My friend has 6 small ones & her neighbor has 4 "trees". Figure they are "just across the Gulf" from me & everything else she has seems to grow fine in FL so will try these.

Chat later.

Just let them skin up well Jean. Sit them on a shelf somewhere for a couple of weeks. I had 8 I laid up on a high shelf in a shady area in my greenhouse and forgot them for 3 months. When I found them they were starting to grow leaves and flower buds were forming in air!

Once they've skinned, plant them in your regular favorite mix and off you go!
Glad you're back! Smiling
