I've decided to plant my native holly where it will block the view of the well pump. Then put the yellow leaf Golden Dew Drop just down from it to hide the propane tank. Both will have a row of red cannas behind in the summer. SO, I'm hoping it does indeed cool down by mid-week.

....and I was thinking that on that metal link fence on the one side might possibly be perfect for the Yellow Butterfly (or Yellow Orchid) vine. You do have a lot of space to work with. Smiling

Hope all of you can work on turning the heat and humidity down. We are only going to have several weeks in DeLand to work on the yard, so I am not looking forward to the heat and humidity Thumbs down Thumbs down Thumbs down We have had a few really nice days here, for which I am really thankful.

I love my DeLand gardens a lot in the Winter.

Its sad to see some things go down that come back with those freezes though,... The Kohl rabi's, Cabbages, Mustards and all the lettuces and greens adore it. I need to remember to get the violas going soon to. They add color to our Central Florida gardens and whip right through with the greens in freezes.

The grasses go brown but we don't have to cut it or them!, and its a perfect time to weed and get the beds ready for next Spring!

m having to have a little work done on my 'earth suit' soon, and I dont know what the heck to do with my yard so over run with the good, the bad, and the ugly. I was really hoping it would cool down just a tad so I can get something done before not being able to for a couple months at least. Ive got so much to move around, its so dry, I cant do it now anyway. Easy to dig up, but hard to keep watered in, to recoup the move. We have lived here 14 years, and for 14 springs or fall I have moved the front bed around. I cant get that like I like it to save my life.

At some points I have found the need to place some things in a location and commit to it Pam. Its a hard decision sometimes.

I truly understand the hardships of this time of the year in Central Florida gardening. The bugs are at their best for sure and flatly a pain. It has been dry which is depressing to most gardeners unless you grow cactus' and succulents that thrive on no humidity and such as in the midwest.

Center your attentions on whatever you find blooming in your gardens now. Getting older doesn't help true, and we don't take the heat like we used to...

Cool air will be coming soon. I know the sod grass bugs and drought have been a problem for you, but the grass will be turning brown soon anyway and maybe a freeze will kill them for next year!

Violas and Pansies will brighten our Winter world and go through Winter with us! Start those greens soon! They will too. Cabbages in the front bed are better then nothing in the front bed! Hilarious!

My spirits are definitely going to pick up, when the hottest it is for the day is 75!

Do you think the best time to move gingers is when they die back? My pinecone gingers are all in front of omething shorter than they are and I cant stand it.

I just moved a batch of 'Dancing ladies' Pam. I move them any time of the year from early Spring to about now.

Here are some pictures of how the greens looked in the front beds last year after the first round of freezes. These were taken in mid February and early March after the landscape was bleak...

Lemonade and diet tea around here. I just saw the most beautiful Brugsmansia, from David's yard. What type is it? My Dr. Seuss is blooming and so is Equador Pink. I have a Cherub and Lemon Swirl that are still too small to bloom. For awhile you could not get Angel's Trumpets in my neck of the woods. They got a bad rap when some neighborhood kids were experimenting with the plants. Shrug!
