I use fish emulsion sometimes but I find if you just dry them out and move them out of the bright sun/light, they come back but it takes awhile. The color of the stem will not affect it blooming. I have some in the greenhouse that turn pink when they get too much sun and they are still beautiful bloomers. Give them some normal fertilizer too and see it that does not help.

Knowing now that Christmas Cactus is a succulent and not a cactus, I'm wondering if I picked up the wrong potting soil for it? I purchased a bag of MiracleGro fast growing formula for Cactus.
Should I find something else?

The cactus isn't in this right now. It is in the same soil it was in when given to me a few months ago, by the guy who grows them.

Here's some pics of my baby -

I just use MG potting soil with the 6 month fertilizer in it to start my babies. i do not feed them until they are well rooted since the soil has the necessary things in it. I have never used cactus soil for my CC but then I do not do things like other people do most of the time. Hilarious! I do not even buy African Violet soil for the AVs. I do mix my own medium when I propagate them, but other than that I use the same MG for every plant in the GH. Some people will frown upon that, especially the men who are really into the soil thing. I am too old be testing soil etc. The serious growers will frown at my methods, but again, I do what works for me and what makes me happy.
When propagating plants becomes too complicated I get unhappy and that is not why I am in this business.

I am sure someone will give you a better answer than this, cut I had to get my 2 cents in since I am very successful in what I do even if it is not the norm.

You think so Julie??? I thought she was wilting! Until last week she was standing straight up, now she's spreading out, which I may have mistook for wilting? Confused

You can see her better than I can, that's for sure. See how well you're getting to know her? Smiling

I assume you watered? And watered it until the water ran through the bottom? Since we don't have a 'before' picture, you're the only one who can tell if it looks better than before, but it looks good from here.

.. Or it may be adjusting to the different lighting ~ I went back & read where you said you moved it.

Yes, she's on my diningroom table now. That's where she's going to stay, as that is where I want her to bloom, IF she blooms this year. She's not that big yet, so she might not.
ugh I don't know if the water ran out the bottom or not because I also have her on a pebble tray and keep that moist.
Should I water her again, or wait til next watering?

I've found the best way to know if it needs more water is to stick your finger into the soil…At least as far as your first knuckle…Deeper if you can. If it's dry, then consider watering…If it's still damp, then hold off.

I use popsicle sticks. Wooden ones. Stick it in the soil about an inch. If damp dirt comes up on it when you pull it out, don't water.
If it comes out clean, it needs water.

Great idea with the popsicle sticks.

JB: I like your method -- if the plants grow and are healthy, they are happy and so are you!
