Emergency Seed Package

By goldfinch4

I needed to mail some tiny seeds, but had no package to put them in. I began looking through my cupboards and came up with a great solution!

It's also perfect for non-emergency seed storage! Those tiny little seeds, like poppy seeds, are a headache to deal with. Well, no longer! I've got an accident prone husband, and a cabinet full of bandaids! I'll put those wrappers to good use!

I hope it works with the Meijer brand bandages. Thumbs up I always have a hard time getting them to open up to use as a bandage.

The seeds do slide out easily too. I agree Marilyn, some of those bandage packages are almost impossible to open.

Good tip! I've seen all sorts of little packets re-used... wrappers from individual teabags, drink mix packets... as you said, sometimes you just have to look around! The paper "footballs" we used to shoot across our school desks make a good little packet also, but not as flat as your bandaid wrapper.

Bandaids here are mostly opened by a 4 year old. Needless to say, their wrappers can't be recycled like this!
I'm learning to dance in the rain. Thank you, Sally & Chris.

Hilarious! Hilarious! I'm sure those bandaid packages are a bit tattered. They can be a real pain to open sometimes.

Even if the bandaid wrapper is opened all the way, all it would take is a little tape along the sides to put it back together again! I still think this is a better idea than anything I would have thought of!

sugar packets
Sweet-n-Low packets
bill envelopes cut in half and taped, or just a corner cut off and taped

I use empty bill envelopes to dry seeds, and to store them drying slowly for a few weeks.
This is also the stage of seed saving where I sometimes lose them for months or years.

What makes me mutter and grumble is that i seem to have no trouble keeping close track of them for months (they are always RIGHT THERE on my table with all the clutter).

Then right before I need to sow them or mail them out, guests visit ... I have to tidy up ... and the seeds are never seen again!

grumble mutter gripe
